Hello, I am Henrike Schoen, called Rike. Head and hand behind the label bastisRIKE.

2009 in parallel to my studies I founded bastisRIKE. Hand drawn, lovingly designed rubber stamps have been my first products, next to paper products. In 2014 with releasing my first woven blanket called THE GRID I was able to extend my product range. In spring 2018 it will be extended with more high quality textile products.

Basti, my Jack Russel terrier, who has been the name giver to my business, accompanied me along the way. Sadly I had to say goodbye in the winter of 2017.

All bastisRIKE products have one thing in common, they are based on analogue handmade designs. The attention to detail is reflected by the careful choice of environment friendly materials and manufactures.

I set a high value on co-operation with small and local manufactories and workshops. That's why all products are made in Germany.

It's where ink, scissors, recycling paper and organic textiles meet.

It is my aim, that bastisRIKE products' environmental impact is minimized as much as possible. Next to that all people involved should be treated and paid fairly.

As an entrepreneur and as a designer I see it as my responsibility to not follow the fast and easy way. I'm not interested in "More is more!". I want to create products based on respect for people and nature.

That's why I try to draw the materials used preferably regionally. But in truth that's not always possible. Cotton does not grow inlocal climes. But there's still a choice and so I decided to go for certified organic cotton. Cotton grown under standards including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

It's not easy to implement those goals. Usualy it needs more time and involves higher costs. And yes, sometimes I have to give up a product idea.

In the end it is certaint: Fast and cheap is no option. Neither for me as a person nor for my label bastisRIKE. My products shall distinguish themselves through long-life quality and time-less designs.
Short-lived trends are not my thing. And every now and then I make decisions, which say "No, thanks!" to the idea of the conventional, profit-oriented entrepreneurship. Because:

"I do love to design beautiful products.
But not at any price."

I was born in 1979 at the Lower Rhein area. After an apprenticeship in mediadesign I received my diploma in visual arts from the renowned Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig in 2011. I live and work in Leipzig.

Revocation right
You have the right to revoke this contract within fourteen days without specifying any reasons.
The revocation period is fourteen days with effect from the day,

- on which you or a third party nominated by you, which is not the carrier, had taken possession of the products, provided you had ordered one or more products within the scope of a standard order and this/these product/products is/are delivered uniformly;

- on which you or a third party nominated by you, which is not the carrier, had taken possession of the last product, provided you had ordered several products within the scope of a standard order and these products are delivered separately;

In order to exercise your revocation right, you must inform us (Henrike Schoen, Demmeringstraße 79, 04177 Leipzig, Telephone number: 0157 31 33 7646, E-Mail address: info [!at] bastisrike.de) of your decision to revoke this contract by means of a clear declaration (e.g. a letter sent via post, fax or email). You can use the enclosed specimen revocation form for this, which however is not mandatory.

In order to safeguard the revocation period, it is sufficient that you send the notification about the exercise of the revocation right before the expiry of the revocation period.

Consequences of the revocation

If you revoke this contract, we shall repay all the payments, which we received from you, including the delivery costs (with the exception of additional costs, which arise from that fact that you selected a form of delivery other than the most reasonable standard delivery offered by us), immediately and at the latest within fourteen days from the day on which we received the notification about the revocation of this contract from you. We use the same means of payment, which you had originally used during the original transaction, for this repayment unless expressly agreed otherwise with you; you will not be charged any fees owing to this repayment.

We can refuse the repayment until the products are returned to us or until you have furnished evidence that you have sent the products back to us, depending on whichever is earlier.

You must return or transfer the products to us immediately and, in any case, at the latest within fourteen days with effect from the day on which you inform us of the revocation of this contract. The deadline is maintained if you send the products before the expiry of the fourteen-day deadline.

You bear the direct costs for returning the products.

You must pay for any depreciation of the products only if this depreciation can be attributed to any handling with you that was not necessary for checking the condition, features and functionality of the products.

Criteria for exclusion or expiry

The revocation right is not available for contracts

for delivery of products, which are not prefabricated and for whose manufacturing an individual selection or stipulation by the consumer is important or which are clearly tailored to the personal requirements of the consumer;
for delivery of products, which can spoil quickly or whose use-by date would be exceeded quickly;
for delivery of alcoholic drinks, whose price was agreed at the time of concluding the contract, which however can be delivered 30 days after the conclusion of the contract at the earliest and whose current value depends on the fluctuations in the market, on which the entrepreneur has no influence;
for delivery of newspapers, periodicals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts.

The revocation right expires prematurely in case of contracts

for delivery of sealed products, which are not suitable for return for reasons of health protection or hygiene if their seal has been removed after the delivery;
for delivery of products if they have been mixed inseparably with other goods after the delivery, owing to their condition;
for delivery of sound or video recording or computer software in a sealed package if the seal has been removed after the delivery.

5.1 The prices mentioned in the respective offers represent total prices, as do the shipping costs. They include all the price components, including all the incidental taxes.

A. General Terms and Conditions

1) Scope of Application
1.1 These Terms and Conditions of the company Henrike Schoen (hereinafter referred to as "Seller”) shall apply to all contracts a consumer or a trader (hereinafter referred to as "Client") concludes with the Seller related to the seller's goods and/or services presented by the Seller on the electronic platform Etsy (hereinafter referred to as "Etsy”). The inclusion of the Client's own conditions is herewith objected to, unless other terms have been stipulated.
1.2 A consumer pursuant to these Terms and Conditions is any natural person concluding a legal transaction for a purpose attributed neither to a mainly commercial nor a self-employed occupational activity. A trader pursuant to these Terms and Conditions is any natural or legal person or company with legal personality acting in the performance of a commercial or self-employed occupational activity when concluding a legal transaction.

2) Conclusion of the Contract
2.1 When placing an item on the electronic platform Etsy , the Seller shall make a binding offer to the interested party for the sale of this item.
2.2 The Client can accept the Seller’s offer via the Etsy online order form. In doing so, the Client has to place the selected item in the virtual Etsy shopping basket and subsequently he has to go through the ordering steps specified by Etsy. By clicking on the button finalizing the order process, the Client declares the acceptance of the offer, whereby a contract comes into effect regarding the item previously selected by the Client.
2.3 The contract's content will be stored by the Seller and will be sent to the Client in writing including these Terms and Conditions and Client Information in text form (for example via e-mail, fax or letter) after conclusion of the contract. In addition, the contract's content will be stored by Etsy and can be called free of charge by the Client via his Etsy password-protected customer account.
2.4 The Client can correct all the data entered via the technical means provided by Etsy prior to submitting his order. Corrections can be made directly in the respective input fields of the online shop via the usual keyboard and mouse function.
2.5 The German and the English language are exclusively available for the conclusion of the contract.

3) Right to Cancel
Consumers are entitled to the right to cancel. Further information on the right to cancel can be found in the Seller’s instructions regarding the right to cancel

4) Price and Delivery Costs
4.1 The prices indicated by the Seller are final prices and include the legal value added tax. Any additional delivery and shipping costs are indicated in each respective product description if applicable.
4.2 For deliveries outside of the European Union additional costs may arise for which the Seller cannot be held responsible and which have to be borne by the Client. Such costs include fees for the transfer of funds by credit institutes (for example transaction fees, exchange fees) or customs duties or taxes. Such costs regarding transfer of funds may also arise, if delivery does not occur outside a country of the European Union while the Client pays from a country outside of the European Union.
4.3 Various modes of payment are available for the Client which are indicated in the Etsy Seller's online shop.
4.4 The seller allows payment via the payment method Etsy Payments. The customer can use the payment methods offered to him within the scope of Etsy Payments for payment.
If this payment method is used, payment is processed via Etsy Ireland UC, 66/67 Great Strand Street, Dublin 1, Ireland (hereinafter: Etsy UC), unless payment is made in US dollars or Canadian dollars. In this case, payment will be processed via Etsy Inc, 117 Adams Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States of America (hereinafter: Etsy Inc.).
Etsy UC or Etsy Inc. enables the customer to use different payment methods in the form of

Depending on the article and the location of the customer, the aforementioned payment methods may only be available to a limited extent. The payment method(s) available for the respective goods will be shown to the customer in the respective offer of the seller or in the context of order processing.
4.5 If payment in advance is agreed, payment is due immediately after conclusion of the contract.

5) Shipment and delivery conditions
5.1 Should the assigned transport company return the goods to the Seller, because delivery to the Client was not possible, the Client bears the costs for the unsuccessful dispatch. This shall not apply if the delivery cannot be made due to circumstances beyond the Client's control or if he has been temporarily impeded to receive the offered service, unless the Seller has notified the Client for a reasonable time in advance about the service.
5.2 Should the Client collect the goods himself, the Seller informs the Client via e-mail, that the goods are ready for collection. After receipt of the e-mail the Client may collect the goods at the Seller’s place of business after consultation with the Seller. In this case no shipping costs will be charged.

6) Reservation of Proprietary Rights
If the Seller provides advance deliveries, he retains title of ownership to the delivered goods, until the purchase price owed has been paid in full.

7) Liability for defects
Should the object of purchase be deficient, the statutory provisions shall apply.

8) Special Conditions for the Processing of Goods According to Client's Specifications
8.1 If, according to the content of the contract, the Seller is responsible for the delivery of the goods and also the processing of the goods in accordance with the Client’s specifications, the Client must provide the Seller with all content needed for processing such texts, images or graphics in the file formats, formatting, image and file sizes specified by the Seller and grant him the rights of use required for this purpose. The Client is solely responsible for the procurement and acquisition of rights to this content. The Client declares and accepts responsibility for the fact that he has the right to use the content provided to the Seller. In particular, he shall ensure that no third-party rights are infringed (in particular, copyrights, trademarks, and personal rights).
8.2 The Client shall indemnify the Seller from claims of third parties asserted against the Seller in connection with a violation of their rights by the Seller’s contractual use of the Client’s content. The Client shall also bear the reasonable costs of the necessary legal defense, including all court and lawyer's fees according to the statutory rate. This shall not apply if the Client is not responsible for the infringement. In the event of claims by third parties, the Client shall be obliged to provide the Seller promptly, truthfully, and completely with all information that is necessary for the verification of the claims asserted for a corresponding defense.
8.3 The Seller reserves the right to refuse processing orders, if the content provided by the Client for this purpose violates legal or official prohibitions or morality. This shall apply in particular to the provision of content that is anti-constitutional, racist, xenophobic, discriminatory, offensive, or youth-endangering, and/or if it glorifies violence.

9) Applicable Law
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply to all legal relationships between the parties under exclusion of the laws governing the international purchase of movable goods. For consumers, this choice of law only applies to the extent that the granted protection is not withdrawn by mandatory provisions of the law of the country, in which the consumer has his habitual residence.

10) Alternative dispute resolution
10.1 The EU Commission provides on its website the following link to the ODR platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
This platform shall be a point of entry for out-of-court resolutions of disputes arising from online sales and service contracts concluded between consumers and traders.
10.2 The Seller is not obliged to use ADR entities to resolve disputes with consumers, but he is in principle ready for this.

C. Instructions for cancellation

Right to cancel
You have the right to cancel this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason.
The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the goods.
If the contract is a contract for the supply of data which are not supplied on a tangible medium and produced and made available in digital form (digital content), the cancellation period ends at the end of 14 days after the day on which the contract is entered into.

You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you choose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us) without undue delay and not later than fourteen days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel this contract. We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you. We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. In any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement.
If the contract is a sales contract for the delivery of goods, we may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us without undue delay and in any event not later than 21 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 21 days has expired.
You will bear the direct cost of returning the goods.
You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods

Exclusion and/or premature expiration of the right to cancel
The right to cancel is excluded for contracts for the supply of goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalized.
