About Démodé Fashion and Myself

I launched Démodé Fashion shortly after I discovered a love of design stemming from the sewing of a pair of curtains. I wanted to create something that wasn't merely following runway trends. I wanted a brand that is inspired by what people want to wear. Démodé in French means "Unfashionable" so I don't think that my creations aren't in fashion per se but I think that they are not in line with copying a particular trend.

I started creating handbags and then eventually moved on to women's clothing. I sold online through Etsy, though I wasn't able to focus all my attention into my store here. I also sold at a few craft fairs and at Parts and Labour in Austin, Texas.

In 2009, I got called back out of forty contestants to audition for Project Runway Season 8. Though it was a great opportunity, i was not cast. I decided that part of the reason was that I need more fine-tuning as a designer. In 2011, I was accepted to the renown Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. I interned with Armani Exchange and then landed a job at Abercrombie & Fitch. Abercrombie was very limiting in my overall creativity and so, without regrets, I parted ways in January of this year.

I would say Démodé Fashion has been on hiatus for quite sometime, but I feel like it is the right time to get back to where it used to be and beyond.
