Hi, I'm Rachel Lucie, and I'm an independent jewellery designer-maker and photographer living in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. UK.
I have always loved jewellery and discovered a passion for designing and creating my own in 2008, whilst having a career break to bring up my two young children. I never went back, and instead created my own jewellery brand which I have been selling in galleries and online ever since.
I happily spent hours as a child lost in a world of beads and wonder, playing with an Indian silver and sandalwood box of my Grandma's which was filled with antique broken jewellery oddments and semi-precious beads of all kinds from Edwardian, 1920's and Art Deco necklaces. The romance of bygone days and all these broken and forgotten gems has always stayed with me and still inspires my work today. Rachel x

This pendant is just the thing I was looking for. It is simple yet elegant. It is not overstated, just very refined. Beautiful. It arrived quickly. I like how the package was wrapped with care, and it arrived safely.

An Unexpected Creative Direction
It's amazing what comes from a love of old things, beads and collecting precious rocks.
As a tomboy who loved climbing trees, wearing wellies (gumboots) and searching for frogs, I was also forever drawing, and was obsessed with semi-precious stones, shapes and colours.
I only ever wanted to wear 'proper' jewellery with silver, jewels and pearl, but could never find anything I liked in 'normal' shops. Since discovering Etsy in 2007, my love of unique handmade jewellery has grown, and I developed my own alternative to the mass produced costume jewellery on offer on our high streets.
The idea to make and sell my own jewellery creations came on me at the beginning of 2008. I was a stay at home mum with 2 under 5's, and having been an 'armchair' creative until then, I decided to buy silver, beads and just get going. I found I soon had more designs in my head than I could make or wear and I really wanted this to become my career. I was on Etsy within 6 months, and I have never looked back!
I work with silver, gold fill, semi-precious stones and pearls, dreaming up jewellery pieices that are simple, elegant and feminine without being fussy or fancy. You can dress them up or down, and wear them where you like. Casual glamour at it's best.
I love the flexibility working from home has given me, allowing me to work around my children, and be there to take them to and from school - it can be a juggling game, though! I now work full time and stock galleries, shops and sell other places online, including my own online shop.
