In mid-2022 I saw a picture of a small display on a model railway layout and thought to myself, I can do better than that.
And so I started researching and ordering a few small displays. I still had the controller and that's where it all started.
I created the first software for a train destination indicator. Meanwhile, I came up with more ideas about what you could do with these displays. A gas station with real current prices or an advertising display like at a bus stop that you can upload your own pictures to.
In order to make everything for the model railway as small and installable as possible, I had to develop my own circuit boards. I made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot.
And now I continue to optimize the components.
I also designed the housings myself and didn't print them out on a 3D printer and then paint them. I've gotten a lot better at that now too.
After a few months, the advertising display and the gas station display were ready and I offered them.
The train destination indicators took a little longer because their software is a lot more complex.
All cases are now much better and the advertising display is completely redesigned in a new version with video.

Mitte 2022 sah ich ein Bild eines kleinen Displays auf einer Modellbahnanlage und dachte mir, das kann ich doch besser.
Und so fing ich an zu recherchieren und ein paar kleine Displays zu bestellen. Controller hatte ich noch und damit fing alles an.
Ich erstellte die erste Software für einen Zugzielanzeiger. Währenddessen kamen mir noch weitere Ideen, was man mit diesen Displays alles machen kann. Eine Tankstelle mit echten aktuellen Preisen oder ein Werbedisplays wie an Bushaltestellen auf das man eigene Bilder hochladen kann.
Um alles für die Modellbahn so klein wie möglich und verbaubar zu machen musste ich eigene Platinen entwickeln. Dabei habe ich viele Fehler gemacht und habe viel gelernt.
Und auch jetzt optimiere ich die Komponenten kontinuierlich weiter.
Auch die Gehäuse habe ich selbst konstruiert und auf keinem 3D-Drucker ausgedruckt und anschließen lackiert. Auch darin bin ich inzwischen viel besser geworden.
Nach ein paar Monaten war das Werbedisplay und die Tankstellenanzeige fertig und ich habe sie angeboten.
Die Zugzielanzeiger haben etwas länger gedauert, weil deren Software um einiges aufwendiger ist.
Inzwischen sind alle Gehäuse viel besser und das Werbedisplay gibt es in komplett überarbeitet in einer neuen Version mit Video.
