In the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, Gideon v. Wainwright, the court ruled that states are required under the 6th Amendment to provide an attorney to defendants who are unable to afford their own legal representation. The "Gideon" decision's influence has been far-reaching, and has gone a long way to alleviate the financial burden civil litigants face. Would make a perfect gift for anyone involved in the law...
