Sewing and crossfit! Two of my favorite things!
I’ve been sewing most of my life, I’m not sure when I first sat down to a sewing machine but I do know my cabbage patch dolls had the best wardrobe any seven year old could make!
I started doing crossfit a little over a year ago. Everyone told me that those crossfit people get obsessed… I was sure it wasn’t going to happen to me! Then slowly the movements got less awkward, the WOD on the board no longer looked like it was written in a foreign language! I met an entire new group of awesome and supportive people, this was definitely a place I wanted to keep coming back to!
The drive to do better started to kick in…I was moving up in weights and starting to feel strong. Then I started to acquire the gear. My ultra-cushiony running shoes stopped coming into the box (I take them out for a jog occasionally just so they don’t get lonely).
One day someone saw me rubbing my sore wrists, and suggested I get a pair of wrist wraps. Fabric vs Velcro was the initial dilemma. I tried out several pair and found the fabric worked best for me, and of course I thought to myself “I can make these, and make them FUN!” I made my first pair and quickly came to realize that the type of fabric really makes a huge difference in performance. So I scoured every fabric store on-island and spent countless hours on the internet for searching for the perfect fabric. Then I got a research and development team put together (thanks Christin), and tried a bunch of different fabrics and strings till we found the ultimate combination. Wa-La FUNctional wraps was born.
p.s I still hate burpees.
