My name is Juan Carlos Gordillo. I'm an independent designer from Guatemala, who designs for individuality based on "Respect, Logic, Common Sense, and Coherence". As a designer I like to experiment with and explore shapes, ideas, and patterns. And as you can see, my passion and my DNA as a designer are with DENIM CULTURE.

I participated four times in the MQ Vienna Fashion Week and also collaborated and worked with prestigious companies such as LENZING - TENCEL™, OFFICINA+39, TEJIDOS ROYO and TONELLO. He was invite to the WHITE STREET MARKET 2020 in Milan by CITTADELLARTE – FONDAZIONE PISTOLETTO, Biella, Italy.

My creations have attracted the attention of several fashion magazines such as VOGUE Business Talent, VOGUE - Germany, Sportswear International, L'OFFICIEL - Ukraine, GRAZIA - Slovenia, FABUK Magazine - London, InCompany By Attire - Romania, KS Magazine - Mexico, METROPOLE Magazine - Vienna etc.

Personally I try not to follow trends. I prefer to imbue my designs with my passion for "Western Culture" and "Andalusian Folklore” - combined with influences from my Latin roots. One of the pillars in my design philosophy is my commitment to "ETHICAL FASHION”. You will see in my garments that I “upcycle” fabrics, giving second life to previously loved materials. And when I use new fabrics, I make sure they are organic and biodegradable.

I do this because I believe we have no other choice if we want to ensure the long-term health of our planet. In the fashion industry, I have long advocated for moral and ethical standards aimed at reducing the environmental impact of clothing production. For any such measures to have real impact, transparency is essential. And SUSTAINABILITY must be central to how we think about the creation of new garments and not just a marketing strategy.

Real change must start with the big players. Most multinational fashion companies say they are bringing change to the fashion industry, but they are not. As an independent designer, I ensure that everything I create is transparent and honest so that my customers know that they are buying a unique, sustainably produced product. Doing this is not easy. It involves incurring extra effort and costs. As customer, you get unique pieces, constructed to last and to be part of your life, to be there with you in your life’s memorable moments, created in my small workshop.

I believe that each one of us should make a commitment to take small actions to conserve our natural resources, including the most precious resource WATER. I hope together we can make changes to support a more sustainable lifestyle, for the sake of our planet. Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about who I am.
