Al momento in cui scrivo, studio astrologia da più di dieci anni. Sebbene esistano numerose specializzazioni in questo campo, ho sviluppato fin da subito un interesse particolare per il Nodo Nord: la stella polare della nostra vita che ci guida verso la nostra crescita karmica.

Nel mio decennio di servizio astrologico, ho visto la rivelazione del Nodo Nord guidare amici e clienti ad abbandonare lavori infelici e a trasferirsi dall'altra parte del paese, solo per vedere la loro vita svolgersi senza intoppi verso il meglio; per una transizione più pacifica verso la partnership e la genitorialità; per esplorare la loro creatività e scoprire la loro vera vocazione; per scoprire blocchi psicospirituali profondamente radicati che avevano ostacolato il loro progresso per tutta la vita.

I Nodi Lunari rappresentano l'evoluzione della nostra coscienza: la ragione per cui ci siamo incarnati fisicamente, la lezione di vita che dovremmo imparare. Riassumono il nostro Sé essenziale e tutto ciò che siamo stati, abbiamo fatto, pensato e sperimentato, in questa vita e in altre precedenti (o semplicemente prima in questa vita, se non capite la reincarnazione). Tecnicamente, il Nodo Nord è un punto matematico definito dal punto in cui l'orbita della Luna interseca l'eclittica, il percorso del Sole dal punto di vista della Terra. La Luna rappresenta il nostro subconscio: l'ego che è cresciuto, ha accumulato ferite e abilità e si è evoluto; l'eclittica indica le nostre intenzioni per ciò che manifesteremo materialmente in questa vita. I Nodi Lunari indicano quindi il nesso tra dove siamo stati e dove dovremmo andare. Sono la cosa più vicina che abbiamo a una mappa per la nostra vita specifica e individuale.

Una cosa che amo dell'astrologia è che è un sistema archetipico che affronta il paradosso della dicotomia: l'idea che ogni dualità si dissolva infine in una singolarità. Ogni coppia di opposti è solo il rovescio della medaglia, e senza entrambe le facce, la moneta non avrebbe alcun valore. Ci sono dodici segni zodiacali, ma questi si collocano su sei assi: ogni segno ha il suo opposto e ogni coppia di opposti adotta approcci opposti allo stesso profondo desiderio.

Ogni asse nodale cerca quindi la stessa cosa, ma il modo in cui istintivamente la otteniamo (con il Nodo Sud) non funziona più. Abbiamo esagerato e ora è il momento di trovare l'equilibrio imparando l'approccio opposto. È qui che entra in gioco il Nodo Nord.

Il Nodo Nord simboleggia ciò che dobbiamo imparare in questa vita, mentre il Nodo Sud opposto ci parla sia dei nostri doni naturali che del nostro debito karmico. Il Nodo Sud riflette il nostro passato, sia positivo che negativo, e la zona di comfort in cui ci blocchiamo e ci lasciamo intrappolare dalla dipendenza. Il Nodo Nord è la nostra zona di disagio: ciò che (tipicamente) non ci viene naturale o facile, ciò a cui resistiamo, ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno per maturare. Abbiamo esagerato in passato e il nostro compito ora è usare ciò che abbiamo imparato compensando quell'eccesso. Non si tratta mai di abbandonare completamente il Nodo Sud, ma di imparare a bilanciare l'asse in modo sano.

Il Nodo Nord non è destino, non è inevitabile; bisogna lavorarci consapevolmente, anche se non sempre nel modo in cui ci aspettiamo. Alcuni percorsi sono più facili di altri, a seconda del tema natale e delle posizioni personali: un Nodo Nord di terra per qualcuno con un tema natale pesante può essere più facile, ma se si aggiunge un posizionamento di fuoco in quadratura con l'asse nodale, o alcuni aspetti difficili al governatore del Nodo Nord, si presentano sfide specifiche da superare. Tutto dipende dal tema natale.

I Nodi Lunari cambiano segno solo ogni 18 mesi circa, quindi i segni sono spesso condivisi con la maggior parte dei nostri coetanei. Ciò che è specifico, tuttavia, fino al minuto preciso della nascita, è la casa in cui si trova il Nodo Nord. Ho scoperto che la posizione della casa è spesso ancora più rilevante per le difficoltà individuali rispetto al segno.

Tuttavia, troverete informazioni sul Nodo Nord attraverso le case carenti e, nella migliore delle ipotesi, stereotipate. La maggior parte delle interpretazioni delle case per il Nodo Nord si limita a copiare l'interpretazione del segno dominante di quella casa, anziché spiegare accuratamente le sfide specifiche del segno in quella casa. A mia conoscenza, non esiste alcuna risorsa online o in un libro che interpreti specificamente il Nodo Nord in ogni segno E casa. Questo è essenziale perché un Nodo Nord in Capricorno nella sesta casa è molto diverso da un Nodo Nord in Capricorno nell'undicesima casa, ad esempio. E che dire delle inversioni nodali, quando il Nodo Nord si trova nella casa opposta a quella naturalmente governata dal suo segno, come nel caso di un Nodo Nord in Capricorno nella quarta casa? Ognuna delle 144 combinazioni di segno e casa richiede un'analisi unica.

Questo è stato il mio obiettivo nello scrivere queste guide. Comprendere che ci sono punti ciechi profondamente inconsci nella nostra psiche e come superarli per raggiungere il nostro potenziale più alto e autentico – per seguire il nostro percorso karmico di ascensione – è il modo in cui la conoscenza della nostra posizione unica del Nodo Nord, per segno e casa, ci libera per raccogliere i frutti di una vita intera.

As of this writing, I have been studying astrology for more than ten years. While there are numerous niches within the field in which one may specialize, early on I developed a particular interest in the North Node: the north star of our lives that points us toward our karmic growth.

In my decade of astrological service, I have seen the revelation of the North Node guide friends and clients to leave unhappy jobs and move across the country only to see their life unfold seamlessly into its best; to transition more peacefully into partnership and parenthood; to explore their creativity and discover their true vocation; to uncover deeply rooted psychospiritual blocks that had thwarted their progress all their lives.

The Nodes of the Moon represent the evolution of our consciousness: the reason we incarnated physically, the life lesson we’re meant to learn. They sum up our essential Selves and all we have been, done, thought, and experienced, in this lifetime and others before (or simply earlier in this life, if you don’t understand reincarnation). Technically, the North Node is a mathematical point defined by the place where the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic, the path of the Sun from the point of view of the Earth. The Moon represents our subconscious workings: the ego as it has grown, accumulated wounds and skills, and evolved; the ecliptic indicates our intentions for what we will materially manifest in this life. The Nodes of the Moon therefore indicate the nexus between where we’ve been and where we’re meant to go. They are the closest thing we have to a map for our own specific, individual life.

Something I love about astrology is that it is an archetypal system that deals with the paradox of dichotomy: the notion that every duality ultimately dissolves into a singularity. Every pair of opposites are just flip sides of the same coin, and without both sides, the currency would be worthless. There are twelve zodiac signs, but these sit on six axes: each sign has its opposite and each pair of opposites takes opposing approaches to the same deep desire.

Every nodal axis is therefore seeking the same thing, but the way we instinctively go about getting it (with our South Node) is no longer working for us. We’ve overdone it and now it’s time find balance by learning the opposite approach. That’s where the North Node comes in.

The North Node signifies what we have to learn in this lifetime, while the South Node opposite tells us both about our natural gifts and our karmic debt. The South Node reflects our past, both positive and negative, and the comfort zone where we get addictively stuck. The North Node is our discomfort zone: what does not (typically) come naturally or easily, what we resist, what we need in order to mature. We went to excess in the past and our task now is to use what we’ve learned while compensating for that excess. It is never about entirely leaving the South Node behind, but learning to balance the axis in a healthy way.

The North Node is not destiny, it is not inevitable; it has to be worked on, consciously, though not always in the way we expect. Some paths are easier than others, depending on the unique birth chart and personal placements: an earth North Node for someone with a heavy earth chart may be easier, but throw in a fire placement squaring the nodal axis, or some difficult aspects to the North Node ruler, and you have some specific challenges to overcome. It all depends on the chart.

The Nodes of the Moon only change signs approximately every 18 months, so the signs are often shared with the majority of our peer group. What is specific, however - down to the precise minute of your birth - is the house where the North Node is placed. I have found that the house placement is often even more relevant to the individual’s struggles than the sign.

However, you’ll find information on the North Node through the houses lacking and at best, formulaic. Most house interpretations for the North Node only copy the interpretation for the ruling sign of that house rather than accurately explaining the specific challenges of the sign in that house. (Each sign is associated with a specific planet and house, and while these rulerships are essential knowledge in interpretation, they each represent distinct aspects.) In other words, most interpretations conflate the sign with the house rather than treating them as distinct.

To my knowledge there is no resource online or in a book that specifically interprets the North Node in each sign AND house. This is essential because a North Node in Capricorn in the 6th house is very different from a North Node in Capricorn in the 11th house, for example. And what about nodal inversions - when the North Node is placed in the opposite house from the one naturally ruled by its sign, as in a North Node in Capricorn in the 4th house? Each of the 144 combinations of sign and house requires a unique analysis.

That has been my goal in writing these guides. Understanding that there are deeply unconscious blind spots in our psyches and how to break through them to reach our highest, truest potential - to follow our karmic path of ascension - is how knowledge of our unique North Node placement, by sign and house, liberates us to reap the rewards of lifetimes.
