Felt and bubbles: lovingly slow
My name is Ana and I live near Barcelona, in Sant Joan Despi.
Since my daughter was born, and because of the change that entails, (lack of resources when deciding to stay by her side, instead of seeing her only three or four hours a day, at her early years, and feeling very sensitive about the future that we are leaving for them), I wanted to break with routines too standardized and aggressive, which greatly weaken the ecosystem, and, simultaneously, create too much reliance and comfort from us towards a sick system. So, I look for ways to greater self-sufficiency, that are efficient, environmentally friendly, durable and, as far as possible, cheap, both in basics like cleaning the house and ourselves, giving an extra treat to skin and hair, and teaching myself how to sew and knit, or more varied and attractively "useless", such as making toys for my child, or decoration, working with felt, fabric, wool and cotton, although mostly felt.
My soaps are cold-processed, very complete and following a very slow process. The main function of soap is to clean, and soda ones, have a PH slightly higher than the syndet bars used by the conventional industry, widely misnamed as soap, sold as"friendly" with your skin; but I think those are created for most frequent use, yes, but with a long list of potentially harmful elements to the environment, and ourselves, without the great pleasure for the skin on receiving natural glycerin (result of the saponification process) and extra free oils from a well-done bar of soap. And, although in the process it loses some properties, and even though a little luxurious for a soap, macerating with large proportions of matter, then filtered, essential oils, fruits, milk, clay, honey, ... the slow, cold process stands out.
In addition, I make customized solid shampoos, this time with a cleaning detergent part, because, I believe that it is essential, in the case of hair, with a lower PH, and you need more of a foaming agent, but this detergent is extracted here at least of a natural element: coconut oil. It also contains vegetable glycerin, clays, ayurvedic powders, herbal extracts, proteins, hydrolats, etc. to achieve a balanced formula for each type of hair, leaving it clean, plus free of synthetic silicones, and other niceties that harm it in the long term. As the pH of the hair is lower than the scalp, and as we don't want hair only to be cleaned, but also nurtured, even though it's only dead matter,: P, I recommend to complement it with my leave-in conditioner, to be used only in mid-length and ends (remember: the scalp has a higher pH than hair, and it is convenient that we keep it clean for longer: so, only mid-length and ends), which smells wonderful :).
I also elaborate mixtures of oils for different needs, and, lately, creams, toothpaste, deodorant, ... they all have in common the use of phytotherapy and aromatherapy in its composition, and the zeal on creating the most natural formulations, even though somewhat more expensive, ans, at the same time, always trying to keep it as cheap as possible :)
On demand, I make felt gifts. Eg., hanging gifts for the Christmas tree, brooches, house decoration, toys for kids filled with dried flowers, iris root and essential oils ... if you give me a nice time frame, anything you can think of :)
I hope you enjoy this area, where you will be finding everything I have at your disposal, or, for other matters, informative ones, such as an aid for green housecleaning, or effective vegetable dyes, (in development) you can visit my blog: http://www.fieltroyburbujas.com/.
Besides, you can occasionally find here any info on fairs I take part in.
Thanks for being there, you make it possible ;).
