MY NAME IS MARINA AND I AM A MIDWIFE.

And I say that because my profession is really part of me. I trained as a nurse in Seville and then I had to emigrate to Oxford (UK) to be able to specialize and get the title of midwife.

My desire has always been to take care of the people within the happiest part of the hospital, which for me was the maternity area. During my training I understood that the process of Birth is a natural process that is rarely complicated. This vision clashes with the one that is socially assumed in Spain, looking at pregnancy as if it were a disease, which rarely occurs naturally.
Since I arrived in Spain the road has not been easy, delusional as I always believed, like many women, that the protocols and recommendations of the Ministry of Health were met. My first disappointment occurred when I was called to work in a women's hospital, a reference in Andalusia, and I realize that the delivery room was more like a slaughterhouse than a place where the natural process of birth occurs. Then I was working in different hospitals where I found myself in a very similar situation. There was neither knowledge nor intention to treat childbirth as a physiological process.

Therefore, I come wanting to hit the table and tell you the truth. Without covert or deception. That which we have written in our DNA and that the medical system has tried to hide: WE KNOW HOW TO GIVE BIRTH.

Simply the natural process cannot be controlled or directed. Enough of myths, I present you good and rigorous information, so that you are not afraid of one of the most beautiful and precious gifts with which women are born.

Because I have it very clear. If you know yourself, you trust your body, if you give yourself the opportunity to connect with your nature and your baby, and if you have a professional like the midwife, who knows how to accompany and support you, all and I say ALL women, we can have a wonderful experience.

ME LLAMO MARINA Y SOY MIDWIFE.

Y lo digo así porque realmente mi profesión es parte de mí. Me formé como enfermera en Sevilla y luego tuve que emigrar hasta Oxford (UK) para poder especializarme y conseguir el título de matrona (midwife en inglés).

Mi deseo siempre ha sido cuidar de las personas dentro de la parte más feliz del hospital, que para mí era el área de maternidad. Durante mi formación entendí que el proceso del Nacimiento es un proceso natural que rara vez se complica. Esta visión choca con la que es socialmente asumida en España, mirando al embarazo como si fuera una enfermedad, que rara vez ocurre de forma natural.
Desde que llegué a España el camino no ha sido fácil, ilusa como siempre me creía, como muchas mujeres, que los protocolos y las recomendaciones del Ministerio de Sanidad se cumplían. Mi primer desengaño ocurrió cuando me llamaron para trabajar en un hospital de la Mujer, referente en Andalucía, y me doy cuenta de que el paritorio se parecía más a un matadero que a un lugar donde ocurre el proceso natural del nacimiento. Después estuve trabajando en distintos hospitales donde me encontraba con una situación muy parecida. No había ni conocimiento ni intención de tratar el parto como un proceso fisiológico.

Por eso, vengo con ganas de dar un golpe en la mesa y contaros la verdad. Sin tapujos ni engaños. Esa que llevamos escrita en nuestro ADN y que el sistema médico ha intentado ocultar: SABEMOS PARIR.

Simplemente el proceso natural no se puede controlar ni dirigir. Basta ya de mitos, te presento buena y rigurosa información, para que no tengas miedo a uno de los regalos más bonitos y preciados con los que nacemos las mujeres.

Porque yo lo tengo muy claro. Si te conoces, confías en tu cuerpo, si te das la oportunidad de conectar con tu naturaleza y tu bebé, y si cuentas con una profesional como es la matrona, que te sepa acompañar y sostener, todas y digo TODAS las mujeres, podemos tener una experiencia maravillosa.
