Hi, I'm Claire — and yes, I am absolutely that
person whose entire house is run by cats.
Five of them, to be exact.
There's Mochi, who acts like she owns the place
(she does). Nugget, who will sit on literally
anything you're trying to use. Dumpling, the
world's most enthusiastic lap cat. Noonie, who
has never once broken eye contact while knocking
something off a shelf. And Chunky — our gentle
giant who somehow always ends up in the most
dramatic poses.
Living with five cats means one thing: I think
about pets constantly. Their personalities. Their
little quirks. The way they look at you like
you're the most important person in the world
(or completely beneath them — depends on the day).
One afternoon, I had a portrait painted of Mochi
dressed in full baroque royalty — velvet robe,
gold trim, the whole thing. I hung it above the
fireplace because honestly, she earned it.
Every single guest stopped dead in their tracks.
Then laughed. Then pulled out their phone to show
me their own pet and asked: "Can you do mine?"
