My name is Liana, and I'm the founder of Pet Lore — a storytelling project dedicated to preserving the memories, milestones, grief, joy, and everyday moments we share with animals.
Like many people, I've experienced the profound impact animals can have on a life. They become companions, confidants, teachers, sources of comfort, and sometimes the witnesses to chapters that nobody else fully understands. Over time, I realized that what many of us are trying to preserve isn't simply a photograph of a pet — it's a relationship. It's a story.
That belief eventually inspired me to create Pet Lore, a platform and literary journal built around the idea that the lives we share with animals deserve to be remembered, celebrated, and passed on.
These portraits grew from that same philosophy.
While developing Pet Lore, I began exploring ways to create keepsakes that felt less like products and more like heirlooms. Pieces that capture not only what an animal looked like, but also something of the bond they shared with the people who loved them.
Each portrait is created with care and inspired by vintage storybooks, folk art traditions, nature, and the timeless connection between people and animals. Whether you're celebrating a new companion, commemorating a beloved pet who has passed, honoring a working or service animal, or creating a meaningful gift for someone special, my goal is to create artwork that feels personal, thoughtful, and lasting.
I believe every animal leaves a mark on the people who love them.
A dog who waited faithfully at the door.
A horse who carried someone through difficult years.
A rescue cat who became family.
A parakeet whose morning songs filled a home with life.
The details may seem small, but they become part of our personal histories. They become stories we tell again and again.
Through these portraits, I hope to help preserve a small piece of that story.
