Frequently asked questions
What is a Lightroom preset?
A Lightroom preset is a pre-configured set of adjustments and enhancements applied to a photograph to achieve a specific look or style. It's a convenient way to replicate consistent editing effects across multiple images, saving time and maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
Presets can include alterations to color balance, exposure, contrast, saturation, and more, allowing photographers to achieve desired visual effects with just a single click.
How do I install the preset?
HOW TO INSTALL ON MOBILE:
1. Unzip the .DNG files
2. Import the .DNG files onto your Lightroom CC mobile app (they will appear as an image)
3. Open one image and tap on the three dots located in the top right corner. Then click 'create preset', name your preset however you want and you're done!
HOW TO INSTALL ON DESKTOP:
1. Extract the zip file
2. Open Lightroom CC on your desktop, then click: 'preferences' > presets
3. Now, click on the button 'show Lightroom presets folder'
4. Once it has been opened, double click on 'develop presets', that's where you have to paste the .XMP files you got in the download.
5. Don't forget to restart Lightroom after this process!
What do I need to use the presets?
To use Lightroom presets, you'll need:
- Adobe Lightroom Software: You must have Adobe Lightroom installed on your computer or device. Lightroom is available as part of Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription or as a standalone software. The mobile app is free to download.
- Image Files: Import the photos you want to edit into Lightroom.
- Presets: Obtain the presets you want to use. Presets come in files with the ".xmp" extension for Lightroom desktop and .dng for Lightroom mobile.
Understanding of Lightroom: While not mandatory, a basic understanding of how Lightroom works will be beneficial. This includes knowledge of importing photos, navigating the software's interface, and applying adjustments.
