This handmade .999 fine gold 24k ring is made in the Korean tradition of gift giving for a baby's first birthday (in Korean it's called "dohl"). Koreans have valued gold for centuries and it has been a long lived tradition to give out gold rings to babies celebrating their first birthday. The gold ring signifies "longevity and hope for a prosperous life." Most families typically have about 5 to 15 dol rings that they have received as gifts. Customarily, these rings are kept in a safe place until the child reaches adulthood. Usually, parents will later melt the ring into a necklace or a larger piece of jewelry and give it to the child when they are older.

"Han (1) don" means 3.75 grams according to Korean measurement of weight. Ring size in US is 1, and we've stamped it 999 and 24k on the inside part of the ring to authenticate and guarantee it as 24k fine gold.

Glad I ordered the 3.75 gram one. Based on this one the 1.875 would have been thin as paper. It's a lot of $$ but it will maintain a Korean tradition for our grandchildren on their 100th day birthday that has been in our family for a long time.
