Mis ilustraciones y arte lineal se basan en formas y patrones geométricos. Me topé con este estilo después de que mi gato, Floyd, muriera. Terminé comprando toda una caja de marcadores y blocs de papel de diseño. A partir de ahí, experimenté con formas y colores.
Aparte de Sox el gato, mi compañero constante es una mesa de dibujo gigante que un amigo ingeniero me dio. Usando plantillas, reglas y curvas francesas, creo diseños e ilustraciones como mi trabajo diario y me encanta. Todos los días reflexiono sobre lo aliviado que estoy de estar haciendo algo que siempre he disfrutado.
El entintado se realiza a mano, con ilustración y marcadores de doble extremo. Una vez completadas las piezas, las escaneo y configuro la maquetación, para tarjetas de felicitación, libros para colorear, etc... También soy responsable de hacer toda la impresión ahora, en varias impresoras aquí en el estudio.
La mayor parte del arte está dibujado a mano de la vieja escuela, pero Illustrator es otra herramienta creativa en el estudio.
My illustrations and line art are all based on geometric shapes and patterns. I stumbled upon this style after my cat, Floyd, died. I ended up buying a whole case of markers and pads of layout paper. From there, I experimented with shapes and colours.
Aside from Sox the cat, my constant companion is a giant drafting table that an engineering friend gave to me. Using templates, rulers, and French curves, I create designs and illustrations as my day job and I love it. Every day I reflect on how relieved I am to be doing something I've always enjoyed.
Inking is done by hand, with illustration and double ended markers. Once the pieces are completed, I scan them and set the layout, for greeting cards, coloring books, etc ... I'm also responsible for doing all the printing now, on several printers here in the studio.
Most of the art is hand drawn old school, but Illustrator is another creative tool in the studio.
