Okay, so I just cooked dinner, as I was cleaning up (we haven't ate yet- waiting for bf to get home) and noticed that the expiration date on my taco seasoning was up... way up... well, actually it said "sell by jan 07"

is it still good?

I think so. Spices can go rancid but if it has not been opened or shut tightly it should be fine.

I would think so if it was a sell by date, not to mention that's not typically a "perishable" item, so even if it was expired, it shouldn't make you sick.

it was in one of those cheap sealed packages...

as you can tell I'm going all out with dinner... bad seasoning, no lettuce, tomatoes or cheese- at least I have tortillas :). i shoulda checked before cooking- now I have my bf running to the store on his way home from work.

Thanks, I think we'll eat it.

Ditto. Eat it. It's just fine.
It's not an expiration date, it's a sell by date.

Taco spice is like mostly cumin, pepper, and salt. I'd think it should be fine. If anything, slightly less flavorful.

Thanks everyone. I am not much of a cook and kind of a freak about things going bad...
