Ok, I've searched the faq and forums as thoroughly as I have patience for this evening. Curious that Etsy explains so thoroughly how to bill itself but not how to set up your own payment options-?

Etsy not listed on Paypal 3rd party carts, so how do I go about setting up Paypal properly as an option on Etsy?

Would appreciate guidance from any of you zillion other folks who are clearly smarter than I am and were able to figure it out on your own.

I honestly can't remember what I had to do, but I know it was really easy. I you just choose Paypal as a payment method in your listings and make sure Etsy has the email associated with that Paypal account.

When people buy on Etsy they have to click through to Paypal to pay. It's a separate step.

I'll try that again, thx. I tried that earlier, and Etsy just seemed to bump me off or didn't save the change... maybe just a server fluke.

I'm not sure I understand your question but they have a payment section you can click the boxes to say what payments you take.
Its over on the left hand side of your shop.

It has not been that long for me either...but I do not remember too well how I did it...must have been easy. But the one thing I did not know is that I had to go on Paypal.com and open an account with them. I actually had a sale before all of it was ready. Keep at it and you will get it!

Assuming that you already have a PP acct, all you need to do is go to "Your Etsy" and on the left column you'll see "Shop Setup" and under that you'll see ""Payment Methods". Just enter your email address that is associated with you PP acct and then selct any other payment options for your customers. That's it. ;o)

Ok, that time Etsy accepted the addition of Paypal as payment method, but I am also trying to finish setting up my PP account, not sure whether I want opt 1 payment buttons, or how that will interact with Etsy-?

Thank you all for your kindly attempts to help!

You don't need payment buttons from Paypal. Etsy will put the button into your listing.

There are no options or payment buttons for use with your etsy shop. To use paypal as a form of payment here, all you do (the only thing you can do) is input your paypal addresss on the Payment methods page in Your Etsy (on the left, under Shop Setup... it's down toward the bottom).

How does PayPal work on Etsy?

1. After the buyer clicks on the "buy" button, the buyer selects PayPal as the payment method. As soon this happens, Etsy will email both seller and buyer a notification of the Etsy sale.
2. The buyer is then redirected to PayPal to start the checkout process. The buyer can either sign in to their PayPal account, or they can use a credit card without having to register for an account.
3. At the end of the checkout process, the buyer is redirected back to a confirmation page on Etsy. At the same time, PayPal will send buyer and seller email receipt for payment submitted or received.
4. The seller will see money deposited into PayPal account. The payment may need to be "confirmed" on the seller's end.

How do I open a PayPal account?
You will need to go to www.paypal.com and register. Sellers are encouraged to sign up for a Premier or Business account, not a Personal account. There are two reasons for this. First, personal accounts are subject to receiving limits every month. Second, personal accounts cannot accept payments from buyers that are funded by a credit card. There are only slight differences between Premiere and Business PayPal accounts.

Registration Steps:

Personal Account
Collection of personal information

Premier Account
Collection of personal information

Business Account
Collection of personal information
and business information

Payment Receiving Limits:

Personal Account
Yes. Amount varies but is typically $500 per month

Premier Account
No set limit

Business Account
No set limit

Payments Types Accepted:

Personal Account
Account balance and bank transfers

Premier Account
Account balance, bank transfers and credit cards

Business Account
Account balance, bank transfers and credit cards

***How do I add PayPaI as a payment option in my Etsy shop?***

Once you have your account, sign in to Etsy and go to Your Etsy > Payment Methods. You need to check the box for the PayPal option and enter the email address registered to your PayPal account.

**** Will this add the PayPal logo in my listings?***

The PayPal option and logo with be automatically added to your listings. Etsy will do the rest!
