Wow! I was really off! I predicted that Oct - Dec were the BUSIEST months for etsy and Jan, June - Aug were the slowest!
Each shop is different, of course, but if you're interested in knowing statistically how your shop measures against the Etsy Averages, here is how the months stack up for the past 2 years in sales:
(Thanks so much Flandersfield and Caitlin)
Dec: 38.5 million
May: 36.2 million
April: 35 million
March: 34.4 million
Nov: 32.7 million
Feb: 30.4 million
Jan: 30.0 million
Oct: 26.1 million
Sept: 25.93 million
Aug: 22.55 million
July: 20.6 million
June: 12.8 (Incomplete data)
I think, though, it is safe to say that you are ending the "3 month slump" that is typically the SLOWEST on etsy (June - Aug) and heading toward some of the most PROFITABLE months on etsy.
Regardless, etsy has to be pleased in that sales have generally DOUBLED each month from last year!!

im not sure i would just look at sales $ . i would also look at # of items sold, site hits, and average $ per seller sold.
even in my own business, its not always sales alone that is the indicator of how busy it is, its how many sales i have too

This is a very useful analysis- thanks! It surprised me, too.

Thanks for the info :) Knowing the # of sellers would probably help put things in perspective since its obvious that number has grown substantially and is relative to the increased sales volume.

Thanks! I was just wondering this morning about this. Also, about the peak times of day for sales. :)

im not sure how you see a slump for the summer months. last year the summer months had more sales than the winter months. and this year, may and june had more sales than jan -feb

I think those numbers need more crunching. You need to determine the average price of a sold item and number of items sold per shop for a better picture. Among other numbers.

I wouldn't consider May to be part of "summer". And the three lowest months this year were, in order, June, July and August.
Last year's numbers are more of a steady climb, although there was a dip in June.
