With the participation of Julie CRENN, French art critic and independent curator.

" Fatima Mazmouz is a self-taught artist. Since the beginning of her career, she has positioned herself as a research artist. Her practice is multidisciplinary since she combines the mediums of image to writing, through installation, performance, video or sculpture. Very quickly, she made her body and her personal experience the main material of her critical and plastic reflection. Fatima Mazmouz situates her body: a cisgender woman, Moroccan/French, living and working between France and Morocco, a mother, a researcher, a conscious and feminist citizen. She is also an artist. In this sense, it analyzes the dual artistic and cultural heritage in which it is inscribed. History is its second subject: history of women, history of art, history of Judeo-Christian and Arab-Muslim civilizations, colonial history.

Women's bodies are placed at the heart of this project that Fatima Mazmouz deploys in time and geographical space. Within a thought made up of interlacing and intersections, the artist thinks of the body as a matrix that articulates the exiled body, the migrant body, the broken body, the active body, the magical body, the mother body, the colonial body, the autonomous body, the resistant body, the cultural and cult body. Bodies that she activates plastically to formulate a radical critique of sexist assignments and control (patriarchal and imperialist) of women. In the manner of Russian dolls, Fatima Mazmouz creates interweaving between stories, bodies, traumatic situations, living conditions and representations...."

Size and quality, perfect. Took a bit long to arrive due to logistical issues relating to customs requirements, but all was forgotten once in receipt of the painting. Thoroughly enjoying it
