Nature and the world outside are really what inspire me to create my nature-scape art. As an avid gardener, I’m always outside taking photos of birds, butterflies, flowers, dragonflies, and anything that really piques my interest. I go there quite often to just walk around by myself, enjoy some quiet time, and see where my camera takes me. The things I photograph often find their way into a painting after I develop the idea. Nature comes to me in many bold and colorful forms, and I like to use those bright and cheerful colors in my paintings. I’m a great fan of abstract art so in most of my work I try to place the subjects I’m recreating on abstract-inspired backgrounds. In most cases that background is just as important as the main subject. The painting would not be complete or make sense unless the two are paired cohesively. My technique employs a great deal of water which means long drying times between layers of color. The finished product is the result of a lot of meticulous work and patience.

The most wonderful comment I can receive as an artist is that my work is bright, colorful and has made someone happy when they look at it.
