5 out of 5 starsVery beautiful and very resistant, my husband has been using it for the shower for several weeks now, only downside the loop on the top is too small to hang it on a bathroom element, it would be perfect if she was a few centimeters taller 😉 Otherwise very good

What is a tawashi?
Tawashis are native to Japan. Traditionally they are brushes made of natural material used to do the dishes.Tawashis have become handmade cloths, made of cotton or knitwear or recycled materials.Washable, ecological, environmentally friendly tawashis last much longer than a commercial sponge. They are multipurpose: dishes, cleaning sinks and worktops, cleaning the sink, bath and shower... they are also suitable for the toilet of the body and face. The softest ones are perfectly suitable for washing babies.
Which tawashi for what use?
For the dishes I recommend tawashis between 9 and 13 cm. They have a good grip and are easy to use to wash the inside of glasses or cups. The ideal material is cotton, which is naturally biodegradable when tawashi reaches the end of its life. Cotton and acrylic mixtures are also suitable, they dry a little faster, as does the very flexible and airy viscose/polyamide mixture. For the toilet I recommend tawashis in natural materials: hemp, organic cotton or cotton.Larger tawashis (13 or 14 cm) are perfect for cleaning, but they are also suitable for toileting in the bath or shower.Tawashis/washcloths made of natural hemp will delight environmental lovers.
How to maintain tawashis?
I advise you to soap your tawashi with Marseille soap after each use, rinse it well and wring it out before hanging it by its fastener. Unattached washcloths can be placed on an airy support. This regular maintenance helps to avoid bad odors.Tawashis can be machine washed at 30°. Depending on the material, they can withstand 40°. I advise to avoid high temperatures for viscose-polyamide tawashis. If the maintenance of the tawashi is not regular, it can happen that bad odors settle. In this case I advise to boil water with baking soda and dip the tawashi in it for 10 to 15 minutes (out of the heat), then rinse it with clear water.
How long does a tawashi last?
If well maintained, the tawashi used for dishes can last between 6 months and 1 year, or even longer.I advise you to be careful with knives or other sharp objects that can pierce the tawashi. Just place the sharp side of the knife on the outside.Tawashis used for toileting can last for several years if they are well maintained.Jute gratounettes are more sensitive to friction. Wet, they can last between 3 and 6 months, or even more.Used dry to exfoliate the skin, they can last for several years.

Fair trade
Creating handcrafted crochet products takes time. I take between 35 and 45 minutes to crochet and assemble a round tawashi. I set my prices in relation to what I feel is correct to receive for the item you are going to buy.In addition, and this goes without saying, the products I create are of good quality, they are well finished and are made to last over time.Crocheting tawashis is an art, it is also a pleasure. Each tawashi is crocheted with care and love!
