I collect sand, and I went into the sand paintings art with pictures in my head, inspiration, polyphane, utility knives and pencils. And then magic happens, when the sand find its place on the polyphane. But using sand is not as easy as a paintbrush for editing. Some of my paintings, with many sand colours, require many hours of work, patience, meticulousness and time. I only use untinted sand to keep authenticity. Then, I chose the framing paper to highlight the paintings. I always love seing a finished painting. My inspiration subjects are huge and diversified to satisfy different sensibilities.

It's fascinating and I never get bored, since I have to find new source of inspiration.
Sometimes, the result doesn't satisfy my expectations, but I'm pleased to see the final result.

I use dual-sided polyphane, pencils to make the starting drawing, different utility knives, natural sand and papers for framing.

I remove the protective layer of the polyphane. I glue the polyphane on Bristol paper, I draw on the other side of the protective layer of the polyphane. I cut cut little by little the different parts of the drawing with utility knives. I remove the protective layer of the polyphane. I glue sand on the uncovered part. I always begin with the dark sand so I don't alterate the light one.

I create my compositions from old black and white pictures, pictorialist photos, silhouettes, but also personal photos or travel photos. There are a lot of natural sand colours, but some shades are lacking, such as blue, purple or green.

I also combine sand with gold leaves and dried flowers.
