By day, I'm an optical engineer. However, on Thursday nights, I take a pottery class with a bunch of middle-aged moms, and honestly, it's the best part of my week.

As satisfying as it is to watch a skilled potter throw a perfect vase, pottery is an inherently frustrating hobby. Some days everything goes wrong. You trim through a piece you were excited about, a glaze doesn’t do what you expected, or the kiln has other plans.

I keep doing pottery because it is slow, a little unpredictable, and very humbling. You can do everything right and still be surprised. I like that.

The problem is I can't stop making things. Cups, bowls, mugs... if it's functional and fits on a wheel, I've probably tried it. My cabinets are full. My friends have been gifted enough mugs. So now I'm here, hoping some of you like what I make too.
