👁 Have you ever tried to find a bilingual book for children in an African language on the Internet, in a library or in a traditional bookstore? Did you find one? There are very few available.
😩 And when you do finally find one, it is most often outdated, of poor quality to generate learning interest in the child and difficult to read. It seemed clear that in Europe, at least in France, children from black Africa were not recognized as bilingual.
🗣️ However, sharing the same language is not only a means of communication but above all a means of perpetuating a collective consciousness, in this case, African traditions. It was necessary to think about another framework.
🥳 All this gave birth to the Jeannette Kibangu Editions!
🧬 And created Fifi and Patou (and their dog Popo) to publish a series of stories and activities to teach children different African languages.
The dream, adventure and comedy are clearly put forward to charm the little ones (3/7 years old) as well as the older ones (8/12 years old) and thus give them a taste for African languages. The cartoon style supports this desire to make learning fun, while offering stories and activities that perfectly master the codes of language learning.
🌍 The great pan-Africanist Kwame Nkrumah said: I am African, not because I was born in Africa, but because Africa was born in me". By making our children learn their African mother tongues, we are growing the Africa that is in them and thus giving them the desire and duty to protect and develop it.
✊ We invite you to grow the seedling of Africa present in every child of African descent by supporting Les Éditions Jeannette Kibangu!

5 out of 5 starsGreat concept, my nephew will be able to learn his Creole language while having fun! Creole was validated by my brother-in-law. I find it incredible that there are so many languages represented, especially difficult to find languages like Mina that I have been trying to learn for several years without finding a dedicated book. So a big thank you for this cultural diversity that you offer us. I think it's so great that I'll probably take it for my daughter too.
