We are a couple of artists living in Provence, in a workshop-shop called "Atelier-LL-ARTisanat deux L, L de LAURA L de LUCAS" in the village of Monieux. Attached to the figurative technique, Laura makes oil painting and watercolors representing the interior of her house, an autobiographical writing where color holds a large place, and utilitarian pottery inspired by her sketches after living model. Lucas sculpts on wood poetic silhouettes out of the material, on which he poses subtle patinas of natural pigments. His silhouettes walk in a dream. He also creates wooden utility utensils and knives. Find in our online store our unique pieces and our limited series. We work in sincerity, we could say that the word that best describes our creations is spontaneity. We are both passionate self-taught, in constant search of bringing the dream closer to reality. Biography Laura RACHEZ I was born and raised in Rustrel in the Luberon. My village is known for its Colorado with colorful ochre cliffs. Maybe I have to see here the origin of my passion for painting. I have always loved to draw and create, I mix colors with my brushes since I was 20 years old. My first exhibition was held in Rustrel in 2012. Today I live and work in a small village in the Monts de Vaucluse, Monieux, about thirty kilometers from the one where I made my first experiences. In 2015 my companion Lucas and I moved to "La Petite Auberge", a charming old house, where since I paint, I work the land and create utilitarian objects. My approach is autobiographical, as if I were telling my life through colorful lines and movements. Each object has a story for me and we often find the works of Lucas represented on the canvas. Just like shoes, books and other everyday objects testifying to our common life. In my pottery, autobiography is always present because I most often draw silhouettes inspired by my living model drawings. I myself have been one of those studio souls who inspire artists. Biography Lucas POUTOUT Accompanied all my childhood by my parents craftsmen-creators of wooden mobiles on the plateau of SAULT, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, some of my occupations took place in the workshop with for toys, a piece of wood, scissors, gouges and mallets ... So it was almost natural that I had to follow this path. However, I left this path after a training that allowed me to work as a house painter-self-entrepreneur for about ten years. I thus acquired the experience of the construction sites, the management of the projects and the meetings that go with it. The creativity that accompanied my entire childhood has never left me. I expressed it in my paintings with shapes, textures, movements and materials. My desire to work with wood caught up with me, changing my technique: rather than adding material, today I retire from it and thus bring out the form through sculpture. Relief and chips, tannins of the woods and pigments of the land... Gouges and brushes are the alliances that inspire me. My installation in Monieux with my company Laura allowed us to broaden our mutual fields of inspiration and creation. Laura towards pottery, which pushed me to imagine wooden objects to accompany her. The basis is sculpture, the purpose is utility. In this process, the oven, the cooking, the heat gave me the desire to work with the forge, the metal. The strength and flexibility of the latter, its transformation fascinates me. Having always loved the knife object I let my passion deepen this form of expression. Attentive to our environment, I choose wood species and materials from France and I favor local sources close to our Mont-Ventoux. I also practice recycling good quality metals for a second life, just as my sculpture supports, too, have had a life of trees, building boards and works of art. All their stories and memories are the starting point of my creation.
