Tudo começou em 1996, quando me inspirei a fazer meu próprio sabonete.
It all started in 1996 when I was inspired to make my own soap.
Satisfazer a curiosidade gera oportunidade; atuar na oportunidade abre portas de iluminação e motivação, o que resulta na criação de algo verdadeiramente novo e útil, unindo uma comunidade. Isto é o que aconteceu.
Tudo começou em 1996 com o encontro de "óleos essenciais" em um artigo que eu estava lendo para passar o tempo. Tão intrigado, levei para a superrodovia da informação, onde, essencialmente, eu tinha lido um pouco sobre óleos essenciais na fabricação de sabão, e me inspirei na primeira novela da internet. No final do ano comecei meu negócio de sabão (Petal Pusher Botanical Soap Company), e comecei a vender meu sabonete.
Eu queria mais informações e procurei, mas não havia nada lá fora que guiasse sabonetes independentes. Assim, o Saponifier nasceu em julho de 1998 para cumprir um nicho no mercado. O Saponifier tem tudo a ver com o compartilhamento de conhecimentos e experiências de fabricantes de sabão, fabricantes de artigos de higiene pessoal, fabricantes de velas, químicos e fornecedores; os tópicos vão desde marketing até formulação, organização até design, senso de negócios a integralidade e tudo mais no meio.
O título foi rebatizado para Making Soap, Cosmetics & Candles (Jan 2016), já que nossos leitores aumentaram para também compor aqueles que fazem todo tipo de cosméticos e velas, bem como sabão.
Satisfying one’s curiosity begets opportunity; acting upon opportunity opens doors of enlightenment and motivation, which results in creating something truly novel and useful, ultimately uniting a community. This is what happened.
It all started in 1996 with encountering “essential oils” in an article I was reading to pass the time. So intrigued, I took to the information superhighway, where, essentially, I had read a bit about essential oils in soapmaking, and was inspired by the first internet soaplist. By the end of the year I started up my soap business (Petal Pusher Botanical Soap Company), and began to sell my soap.
I wanted more information and sought it, but there was nothing out there that guided independent soapmakers. Thus, The Saponifier was born in July of 1998 to fulfill a niche in the market. The Saponifier is all about sharing the knowledge and experiences of soap makers, toiletry makers, candle makers, chemists and suppliers; topics range from marketing to formulating, organizing to designing, business sense to wholesaling and everything else in-between.
The title was rebranded to Making Soap, Cosmetics & Candles (Jan 2016) as our readership has increased to also comprise those who make all manner of cosmetics and candles as well as soap.
