Res Mirum Curiosities Jewelry

Roanne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes | 623 Sales

Announcement    Res Mirum is a French brand of sterling silver jewelry created in the spirit of cabinets of cusiosities.
Cabinets of curiosities were the ancestors of our museums; appeared at Renaissance period, they were private collections created by wealthy collectors, made up of objects unusual for the time; insects, naturalized animals, minerals, objects of science, works of art from new lands ...

So it is this atmosphere, at once strange & mysterious, charged with meaning & history, that the brand Res Mirum restores. The collection is broken down into small lines, based on themes: apothecary, entomology, astronomy, aerostats, museum, the Orient ...

The creators, Aurélie & Cédric, passionate about history, both jewelers, created this brand in January 2015. Everything is produced by them, in Roanne (France), with an eco-responsible concern ; use as much recycled material as possible, sterling silver coming from an authorized Responsible Jewelry Council provider. We donate 1% of our turnover to charities.

About ResMirum

Res Mirum Origins

Res Mirum brand was born in January 2015, after a long, long maturation. Years spent to thinking and refining the universe, with an obsessive concern for coherence, seeking detail, meaning and symbolism ... and improving the techniques and know-how which have enabled us today to create our jewelry in harmony with all the physical, ethical and environmental constraints we had to respect.

We are Aurélie & Cédric, the creators. Jewelers by trade, we met in the context of work in 2004. We partnered in 2010 to create the style and study office in jewelry "Grain de Sel" whose idea was to offer design services of jewelry models for professionals, before finally creating our own jewelry in our style.
We have common skills, and differences; our roles are not strictly compartmentalized. For example Aurélie is at the origin of the first creative drawings when Cédric is devoted to the technical aspects, but we don't hesitate to intervene each in the work of the other !

We strive to maintain the delicate balance of bringing our differences together in this common work, to make the most of it.

We have been fascinated by cabinets of curiosities for a long time, by their very special atmosphere. It seems that their relationship to history and the past, their intriguing and mysterious aesthetics, the meaning and the life of the objects found there... give substance to things, a soul and a singular dimension.

Frequently asked questions
What metal are your jewels in?

Our jewelry is made of sterling silver, which corresponds to 925/1000 in France, the highest legal grade in most countries.
We mention "solid sterling silver"; the word "solid" means here that the jewels are full, and that the gradation of the alloy is homogeneous throughout its volume.
Sterling silver is composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% various metals (in particular copper); this association of various metals is necessary in order to give the alloy better mechanical properties, in particular greater hardness. This alloy, in accordance with the legislation, does not contain nickel.

How do you certify that is sterling silver?

This is attested in two ways:
- by the mention “sterling silver” on our invoices (which we send to each purchase generally by email)
- by affixing our manufacturer's hallmark (also called the responsibility hallmark) on each piece of jewelry. This punch (very small), diamond-shaped, consists of the initials of our company around a passion flower. This hallmark which belongs only to us was deposited with the Customs, it engages our responsibility.

Is there a guarantee on your jewelry / My jewel has broken, can you fix it?

Our jewelry is designed to be durable. Of course it can happen that a jewel breaks, but we will always be able to fix it. If it breaks due to a manufacturing defect, we will of course repair at our expense; it is on a case-by-case basis that we study the assumption of repair costs.

What happens if the package is lost / is the shipment insured?

Usually our jewels are shipped in a simple letter with a tracking number, without signature ; that is usually delivered in a few days, and we never have been lost any jewel with this kind of shipping. But if this happens, the contents of the shipment will not be insured, and the loss will be at the expense of the buyer.
Only sending by Colissimo allows insurance, and in case of loss will allow us to send your order again at our expense.

What care advice for your jewelry?

- For rings or rigid bracelets: do not spread or tighten your jewel too often to pass it. If necessary, carefully spread or tighten your jewel with both hands before passing it in order to keep its initial shape as much as possible. If the metal is bent too often, it will eventually deform, and may even eventually break.
- It is recommended to leave your jewels to sleep, cook, play sports, and especially to tinker and garden! You will keep them in good condition.
- If they tarnish, rub them with a toothbrush and toothpaste, to clean and revive them.

Custom and personalized orders

We do not make custom jewelry, however we can in some cases adapt our creations; modify an assembly, a size ... Do not hesitate to send us your requests. In such a case, however, you cannot return the product for a refund or exchange.

Can sterling silver blacken or tarnish?

Yes! Sterling silver can blacken under certain cases: on contact with certain products (e.g. bleach, sulfur, etc.), in certain contexts (seashores, perspiration, etc.) or sometimes just with certain skins.
We also use this property of silver to give our jewelry a patina, which gives an old appearance, highlights the details and engravings, and which stands the test of time.
Our jewels will probably never change in appearance, but if they do, rubbing with a toothbrush and toothpaste and then rinsing thoroughly is a good method to revive them. You can also use specialized products that are commercially available.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Apart from the chains alone, our jewelry is presented in beige velvet purses, made in Italy, placed on felt pads made in France and accompanied by a card explaining the inspiration, in recycled paper and made in France. Everything is slipped into a cardboard pocket, made in our town of Roanne, closed with a red wax seal made by us.

What is your ethics?

We use as much as possible only recycled materials, the most local, and only the least polluting products; everything is produced by ourselves, at our workshop in Roanne (France), with sterling silver sterling silver coming from an authorized Responsible Jewelry Council provider guaranteeing responsible mining practices concerning human and environmental rights. Our packaging is made in Roanne, our boxes in Italy. Our cards and communication media are made from recycled paper, made in Angers. No material is of animal origin.
We donate 1% of our turnover each year to charitable organizations.
