Estoy encantado de saber que todos los que muestran mi obra de arte inspirada en Rorschach saben que están obteniendo una pieza única digna del propio Rorschach.

Antes de crear RubyMoon Art, producía arte al azar sin un tema cohesivo.

Luego, un año en Navidad, no pude encontrar un regalo único para mi hermano, un psicólogo. Estaba buscando en Internet algo hecho a mano, único y algo que era poco probable que él mismo comprara. No encontré nada.

Entonces, ¡me propuse crear ese regalo perfecto!

Decidí crear la obra de arte relacionada con la psicología más intrigante para el entusiasta de la psicología más exigente del mundo.

Resulta que esa tarea fue más difícil de lo que imaginaba.

Dibujar diagramas artísticos de la corteza frontal es increíblemente difícil. Hacer impresiones tipográficas de palabras relacionadas con la psicología no se tradujo bien. Aprendí que no puedo dibujar imágenes estéticamente agradables del cerebro. No importa cuántas imágenes miré o cuántas descripciones leí en los libros, ¡no entiendo el cerebro lo suficiente como para dibujarlo! Se crearon muchas maquetas de tipografía y descubrí que las palabras eran demasiado largas y que no mucha gente fuera del campo entendía el arte.

Seguí haciendo una lluvia de ideas y me encontré con el trabajo de Rorschach. Hermann Rorschach desarrolló un método para analizar la interpretación del sujeto de las manchas de tinta para evaluar la personalidad y las características emocionales del sujeto. Se mostraron gotas de tinta aparentemente aleatorias, pero simétricas, a los sujetos y el probador solicitó una respuesta, luego interpretada para analizar el estado mental del sujeto.

Pasé muchos meses enseñándome a mí mismo la técnica para crear imágenes que se inspiraron en Rorschach y finalmente aprendí a producir las imágenes perfectas para mi arte. Se utilizaron muchas, muchas hojas de papel y botellas de tinta para perfeccionar el proceso. Las imágenes que creo deben tener algunos rasgos reconocibles; tal como parece un insecto o zombi, sin dejar de ser abstracto y ligeramente irreconocible. Amigos y familiares fueron interrogados y "probaron" las imágenes antes de mi lanzamiento.

Temía que todo este trabajo resultara en el único regalo que me propuse crear. Sin embargo, los comentarios que recibí fueron tan alentadores y positivos que lancé la obra de arte a mi tienda y la respuesta ha sido fantástica.

Before I created RubyMoon Art, I was randomly producing art without a cohesive theme.

Then one year at Christmas, I couldn’t find a unique gift for my brother, a psychologist. I was searching the internet for something handmade, unique and something he was unlikely to buy himself. I found nothing.

So, I set out to create that perfect gift!

I decided to create the most intriguing psychology related artwork for the most discerning psychology enthusiast in the world.

It turns out, that task was more difficult than I imagined.

Drawing artistic diagrams of the frontal cortex is insanely difficult. Making typography prints of psychology related words didn’t translate well. I learned I can’t draw aesthetically pleasing pictures of the brain. No matter how many images I looked at or how many descriptions I read in books, I don’t understand the brain enough to draw it! Many typography mock ups were created and I found that the words were too long and not many people outside the field understood the art.

I kept brainstorming and came across Rorschach’s work. Hermann Rorschach developed a method of analyzing the subject’s interpretation of the inkblots to assess the subject’s personality & emotional characteristics. Seemingly random, but symmetrical blobs of ink were shown to the subjects and a response was requested by the tester, then interpreted to analyze the subject’s state of mind.

I spent many months teaching myself the technique to create images that were inspired by Rorschach and finally learned to produce the perfect images for my art. Many, many sheets of paper and bottles of ink were used to perfect the process. The images I create must have some recognizable traits; such as it looks like an insect or zombie, while still remaining abstract and slightly unrecognizable. Friends and family were quizzed and “tested” the images prior to my launch.

I feared all this work would just result in the single gift that I set out to create. However, the feedback I received was so encouraging and positive that I released the artwork to my shop and the response has been fantastic.
