Alguien más sabio que nosotros alguna vez describió el arte como “la lucha de la humanidad por comunicar el anhelo sublime del alma con herramientas muy simples”.
En Simplesmith, nos encontramos obsesionados con la pregunta: ¿cuál es la naturaleza del arte? ¿Es simplemente un producto de pintura, lienzo y carboncillo? ¿Está hecho por las manos o por la mente? ¿Y en qué parte de esa matriz A.I. encajar? ¿Es una herramienta, como un pincel, o es un compañero en la búsqueda de una mayor expresión artística?
En lugar de evitarlo, hemos adoptado el uso de A.I. en la creación de nuestras obras. Lo incorporamos en varias etapas de nuestro proceso de producción, y el resultado es lo que ves aquí. Estas imágenes son producto de la inspiración humana y la I.A. colaboración (más una cantidad abrumadora de edición y ajustes posteriores). Cuando se hace correctamente, es una experiencia difícil, frustrante y, en última instancia, gratificante. Y al final, a menudo nos encontramos ante otra pregunta: ¿quién inspiró a quién?
Esperamos que disfrute de estos trabajos tanto como nosotros disfrutamos haciéndolos, y que encuentre inspiración en ellos durante los próximos años. Eso, y tal vez encuentres algo que finalmente unirá la habitación (sí, te estoy mirando, la silla favorita de mi compañero de cuarto que realmente no combina con ninguna estética, en ningún lado).
La lucha, como dicen, es real.

Someone wiser than us once described art as “humanity’s struggle to communicate the sublime yearning of the soul with very simple tools.”
At Simplesmith, we find ourselves obsessed with the question: what is the nature of art? Is it merely a product of paint and canvas and charcoal? Is it made by the hands, or the mind? And where in that matrix does A.I. fit in? Is it a tool, like a paintbrush, or is it a companion in the pursuit of greater artistic expression?
Rather than shy from it, we have embraced the use of A.I. in creating our works. We incorporate it into various stages of our production process, and the result is what you see here. These images are the product of human inspiration and A.I. collaboration (plus a mind-numbing amount of subsequent editing and tweaking). When done properly, it is a difficult, frustrating, and ultimately rewarding experience. And in the end, we often find ourselves faced with another question: who inspired who?
We hope you enjoy these works as much as we enjoyed making them, and find inspiration in them for years to come. That, and maybe you’ll find something that will finally tie the room together (yes, I’m looking at you, my roommate’s favorite chair that really doesn’t go with any aesthetic, anywhere).
The struggle, as they say, is real.
