Strands of Creativity
Starting out with simple beading, soon my tiny work area was overflowing with tools and a growing collection of stones. Classes, self-exploration, and a network of master jewelry mentors helped my creative juices flow and I challenged myself with more complicated techniques. As a busy business owner, making jewelry is a great way to de-stress. My basement studio is my zen space and I work to the accompaniment of my favorite podcasts and music streaming.
My daughter is a design influencer and brings a younger perspective to my ideas. She does much of the photography and test drives my pieces for any imperfections.
I appreciate the many dinners I didn’t have to make so that I could keep on working; the tolerance for hammering on Saturday morning; the re-assembly of the dreaded Ikea shelving by my husband with each of our moves; the bead runs that my son made to my favorite shop when we left him behind in Phoenix (the shop ladies loved him), and all the encouragement from friends and mentors.
I am very grateful to all who have purchased my designs. Without you I would not be able to continue since my stash of stones would take over my house. As I hand pick each stone, it is sometimes painful to part with them, but nothing makes me happier than to hear how much you enjoy wearing them.
Stranded By Design refers to my love of wearing multiple strands or chains at a time – mixing vintage and modern, gems or pearls - but always with an eye for interesting composition and balance.
