Gorgeous hat, just delicious. Can't wait to try it on my little boy. Well worth the wait.

A propos

I'm a knitting mumma living the country life

Like most knitters, I learnt as a child from my mother and grandmother. I don't remember much about it, but when I took it up again in my late '20s, it was like getting back on the horse. With the added fuel of the online knitting world, I found my hobby grew into an obsession very quickly.

I loved knitting for other people's babies so much, I decided to have one of my own. My first daughter, Lola, was usually dressed head to toe in my creations. There was a bit less time for knitting when my twins came along, but I continued to click away. Around this time I started blogging, which gave me added incentive to create and share.

At the end of 2012, after moving from Sydney to a cold-climate country region and receiving one too many comment that I should sell my creations, I decided to give it a try. And so Typically Red Knits was born.

These days, I'm a single mum to my three growing girls. I have a regular work-from-home day job, a fabulous freelance food photography gig, and every other spare minute is spent knitting. I've sold hats to customers all over the world - New York, Paris, Oslo, London, Madrid, Toronto...the list goes on. My hats appeared in Papier Mache magazine in 2013 and have been seen in lots of places on the internet.

And while my children are no longer dressed in my handknits anymore, it thrills me to know I'm warming little heads all over the world with my beautiful hats and bonnets.

I am committed to continue creating a handmade-by-me product rather than outsourcing locally or overseas. This means there are limits to what I can produce and sell and I have to turn down a lot of wholesale requests, unfortunately. And if and when they invent another day in the week, I'll be striving to add new products, designs and sizes to my range.

I'm a country girl at heart, though I've lived all over. Life didn't truly begin until my baby girls came along. Now we've found our home back in the country where we're trying to live well, work hard and have bucket loads of fun. Oh, and I knit.

Thank you for your purchase. I put a lot of love into making the hats I sell, and I hope you will love yours just as much. All of the hats I sell are handmade by me, taking between 3 and 5 hours work (often in small bursts during my busy week).

I have chosen high-quality yarn that I've been using for years so I know how it handles when cared for properly. The yarns I use are 100% natural fibre - wool, alpaca etc. They are not 'superwash' and absolutely not meant to be thrown in the washing machine or dryer. If you follow the care instructions (see below), you will get many years' happy use out of your hat.

Retours et échanges
If you are in any way dissatisfied with your product once it arrives, please let me know and I will do my best to rectify the situation - be that refunding your money or replacing the hat. Please note, I can't refund if the hat has been worn or if care instructions have not been followed properly.
I require full payment prior to shipping. In the case of a custom order, payment is required before I will begin working on the hat. If you change your mind about the colour or style after purchase and prior to shipping, please contact me promptly - I'm more than happy to change gears if at all possible.
For ready made items listed in the shop, it is my policy to ship within three working days. If it is a custom order, I will let you know at the point of purchase how long I expect it to take to finish making your hat. As a guide, it usually takes 1-3 weeks, depending on how many other orders I have.

Postage in Australia is often next day, and usually your hat will arrive within a couple of days of me posting it. If you would like express post, please contact me and I will make arrangements.

The shipping times for the rest of the world vary wildly and I have no control over how long it takes. Please be aware that your hat may take as long as 4-5 weeks to arrive in Europe/US etc. If it hasn't arrived and you are concerned, please contact me and I will do my best to sort things out. Unfortunately, the costs and practicalities of tracking/insurance etc make this prohibitive. However, if you are willing to bear the costs, I will happily look into these options as well as international express post and courier services for you.

I will always combine shipping where possible and refund the difference. Please be aware that savings don't usually kick in unless you purchase three or more hats.
Autres conditions et FAQ

Very gentle hand wash only. DO NOT wash hats in the washing machine. DO NOT put them in the dryer.

Wash carefully in cool water, using a gentle wool wash. Don't squeeze, rub or wring the hat. This will result in the wool felting and the structure, shape and size of the hat may change.

To dry, roll the hat gently in a clean towel. Then lay the hat flat in the shade to dry. This may take a day or two.

Of course, only wash the hat if it absolutely needs it. If it helps you to know, I have NEVER washed any of the hats I've made for my own children - they just don't generally need it!

(Note: If you see little ends of wool sticking out of the i-cord ties, these are just the woven-in ends. Pull out slightly, snip off the end, then tug on the ties - the wool end should pop back inside.)
