Classic Shop Policies
Note: These instructions are only for members who filled out their shop policies before March 2016 and haven't switched over to the newer shop policies template. For all other members, you must use the newer shop policies template. Please refer to this Help article for instructions.
Your shop policies provide a brief description of what your buyers should expect when purchasing from your shop. Here, you can outline your policies for payment, shipping, and returns/exchanges.
Creating Your Shop Policies
Edit your shop policies page by going to Your shop > Shop settings > Info and appearance > Policies.
Note: If you leave a section blank, it will not appear on your public shop policies page.
When you finish, scroll down and click Save.
Make sure you create policies that you would appreciate and trust as a buyer. Provide your buyers with important information about how you do business, such as:
- Shipping turnaround time
- Whether or not you offer refunds or exchanges
- How you handle customs and duty fees
- What types of payments you accept
Shop policies are designed to protect you as a seller as well as your buyers. By providing policies that are safe, fair, and respectful, you can offer assurance and instill confidence in your buyers.
Craft your policies in clear, concise sentences. Shop policies that are overly wordy can sometimes be confusing and may turn a customer away.
What are some common questions your buyers ask you? If you receive similar questions from multiple buyers, consider reworking your shop policies to provide more info up front.
Please keep in mind that your policies must not contradict any of Etsy's site-wide policies, so be sure to familiarize yourself with the following before writing your shop policies:
This section lets you show specific information about yourself and your shop to your buyers, such as your name, business address, and VAT number (when applicable).
EU buyer protection laws require sellers to display this information. Only buyers who have set their location to an EU country will see this section. Etsy will not use this information to contact you.
