Personal information such as your age or birth date

Etsy’s optional security features

Etsy provides additional levels of protection for your account.

To access your Security Settings, sign in and go to You > Account settings > Security.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a extra layer of protection to your password and account.

Once turned on, you'll enter a phone number to receive calls or texts. You can use the same phone number on multiple accounts.

A code will be sent to your phone via text message or voice call:

  • When you sign in using a different browser

  • Every 30 days

You’ll need to enter that code in addition to your password when signing in.

The number you’ll be contacted from is an automated service and is not an Etsy Support contact number.

Standard rates will apply, depending on your service provider.

  • With two-factor authentication, you'll be given backup codes to use when you don't have your phone to sign in. Save these codes in a safe place. You can only use each code once.

If you lose your codes or use them up:

1.) Go here Security Settings
2.) Click Edit next to Two-Factor Authentication
3.) Click Generate new codes. This will void your old codes.

Sign in notifications

If Etsy detects that someone accesses your account from a new browser or device, you will receive an email notification. You have the option to add them as trusted devices.

If you have an older Etsy account, you may need to enable these notifications in your security settings. Sign in and go to You > Account settings > Security. Then click the Enable icon next to Sign In Notifications.

Sign in history

Sign in notifications history shows you when and where you sign in to your Etsy account. Once you turn it on, you'll start to see your sign in history for up to 10 of your most recent sign-ins.

You can also sign out of any open sessions. If you signed in to Etsy on a public computer and forgot to sign out, you can sign out of that session in your sign in history.
