Wow!! This painting in the Coca Cola ad absolutely speaks volumes to me. Wartime, and soldiers and sailors as well as workers, families, and others were on the move. This captures so much and I want to know more about what it was like. My dad, as a petty officer in the Navy, was in a scene like this as would have been my mom and my oldest brother. Such a dynamic, tumultuous time . . . .
It was said at one time that Coca Cola is the most recognizable product in the world. Little wonder with iconic efforts such as this one which depicts the drink as a part of everyday life, especially everyday life in the United States, for over a century. On some levels I kind of wish I owned stock. . . .
This beautiful 14x10.5 inch advert was rescued from a November, 1944, Life magazine. Life, published weekly from 1883 to 1972, dominated the field of photojournalism in America for two generations and is arguably the most influential magazine ever to have been published in the United States.

These “scrap” slippers made from odds and ends yarn are incredibly well made with equally attentive detail to finishing! They are quirky, environmentally green, and the pattern is such a fun throwback to a wonderful bygone era. I got 6 sets of slippers from Sandi for house guests to keep their feet warm while not marring the hardwood floor finish. These would be an amazing yet extremely affordable practical gift too.
