A whole new way to wholesale

Etsy Wholesale connects buyers who merchandise brick-and-mortar retail stores to Etsy sellers. In 2015, the program grew to nearly 11K retailers and more than 4,500 Etsy sellers.

New growth opportunities for Etsy sellers

Etsy Wholesale provides great opportunities for Etsy sellers interested in growing their business into new channels of distribution. We launched the Open Call program to give designers the opportunity to pitch their lines and get direct feedback from an aspirational panel of retailers big and small.

Wholesale Retailer Commitments

Many Etsy sellers wish to grow their businesses through relationships with brick-and-mortar retailers, but the traditional wholesale practices of many retailers can present insurmountable operational and financial challenges when applied to small independent designers, including Etsy sellers. In an effort to cultivate mutually beneficial, lasting, and successful relationships, we introduced the Etsy Wholesale Retailer Commitments: a set of guidelines that our largest retailers, our Retail Partners, have agreed to follow when working with Etsy sellers on Etsy Wholesale. Terms include paying the listed price on an Etsy Wholesale seller’s linesheet for at least the first six months, quick and fair payment terms, and providing a point of contact to support vendor compliance. We’re proud to say that all of our large retail partners follow these commitments, including our largest partner -- Macy’s. Learn more about our partnership with Macy’s here.

Promoting local business

This year we launched Etsy Local on mobile, an experience that now allows consumers to discover local brick-and-mortar retailers that carry products from Etsy sellers. This tool will promote the success of local businesses and create more personal connections in the purchasing experience. We also went on a road trip to visit independent retailers in four US cities and empower the growth of these creative entrepreneurs.

Spotlight: Misha & Amit | Sky Goodies | Mumbai, India

Misha Gurnanee Gudibanda and her husband, Amit, launched their Etsy shop, Sky Goodies, in 2013. Their business has been growing rapidly ever since, with thousands of buyers around the world purchasing their colorful, handpainted paper toys and DIY kits, which evoke the charm of Indian street art. They also sell their products to retailers through Etsy Wholesale. "Etsy has given us wings,” Misha says. The Etsy community has been a major source of support, Misha adds. "The love we share through...Teams makes Etsy far more enriching than any other platform we have used,” she explains. One of Misha and Amit’s proudest accomplishments of 2015 was donating their DIY kits to a children’s organization. "It feels really good to be able to make people happy in a small way," Misha says.
