The Great Flood is a history book about the Johnstown Flood of 1889. This catastrophic natural disaster all but completely wiped out the town of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. On that day, roughly 2,209 people were killed including 99 entire families. Approximately fourteen miles up river was the sight of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, a famous and exclusive club that maintained the dam whose collapse sent the wave of water that would decimate the town of Johnstown below. This book explains it all providing the historic imagery and photography needed to visualize such a devastating event.
This book is a production of the Johnstown Area Heritage Association.
