365Blocks

I’m Paul, and this project began while I was traveling through India.
I’ve always been fascinated by traditional craft, especially the tools at the heart of making. While spending time in India, I was introduced to the world of hand-carved wooden printing blocks. Watching skilled artisans carve patterns by hand, using techniques passed down through generations, completely changed the way I understood print and pattern.

Each block is more than a tool. It carries the time, skill, and experience of the person who carved it.

Today, we work closely with block makers in India, including our collaboration with Blockwallah, building direct, respectful relationships with the artisans who carve every block. Our focus is on quality, traditional processes, and keeping block printing alive as a working, everyday craft.

From this collaboration, the 365 Blocks Project was born.
We design, carve, and print wooden blocks continuously - treating the craft as an ongoing discipline rather than a fixed project. Some designs draw from traditional Indian block-printing motifs, while others explore contemporary forms and new ideas. All blocks are carved by hand in India and made to be inked, printed, and used.
The collection grows over time as part of this daily practice. New designs are introduced regularly, alongside earlier patterns that remain part of the archive. Some pieces are presented as complete sets, others as individual blocks - all intended for printers, textile artists, and makers to work with and interpret in their own way.
Together, these form a living archive of patterns: evolving, layered, and shaped by consistent work over time.
