Es begann mit einem Stiefel, der nach drei Monaten auseinanderfiel.
Nicht etwa durch unsachgemäße Behandlung – sondern einfach dadurch, dass sie so hergestellt werden, wie heute die meisten Dinge: schnell, billig und für den Wegwerfmarkt. Geklebt statt genäht. Gebaut, um ersetzt, nicht repariert zu werden. Ich erinnere mich, dass ich dachte: Leder hatte früher noch Bedeutung. Ein gutes Paar Stiefel war etwas, das man erbte, nicht etwas, das man jeden Winter wegwarf.
Diese Frustration ist der eigentliche Grund, warum es Charmed gibt.
Jedes Paar Schuhe, das wir fertigen, beginnt mit echtem Leder – keiner billigen Alternative, keinem Ersatz –, das von Hand geformt und genäht wird, in aller Ruhe, denn nur so entsteht wirklich langlebiges Leder. Keine Fließbandproduktion. Keine billigen Tricks hinter einer glänzenden Oberfläche. Nur Leder, Garn und die Art von Sorgfalt, die man nicht vortäuschen kann.
Wir versuchen nicht, Stiefel für jedermann herzustellen. Wir stellen sie für Menschen her, die lieber ein Paar besitzen, das ein Jahrzehnt hält, als fünf Paare, die nicht einmal eine Saison überstehen – Menschen, die verstehen, dass „handgefertigt“ kein Marketingwort ist, sondern ein Versprechen darüber, wie etwas tatsächlich hergestellt wurde.
