Vor über zwölf Jahren bemerkte meine Frau, dass ihr nach längerem Häkeln die Hände und Arme schmerzten. Nach einiger Recherche und Arztbesuchen wurde uns klar, dass eine Operation finanziell nicht infrage kam. Also, nach ein paar Ideen und einigen Prototypen, waren unsere Griffe geboren! Ich begann mit einem Griff für ihre bevorzugte Häkelnadelgröße und entwickelte das Sortiment weiter. Ich fertigte weitere Griffe für ihre verschiedenen Häkelnadeln an und fertigte schließlich auch andere kleine Helfer für ihre Hobbys: Nahttrenner, Füllwerkzeuge, Stiftehalter, Pinselgriffe, Knüpfhaken, Edelsteinmalerei und alles andere, was sie ausprobieren wollte.
Uns wurde klar, dass sie nicht die Einzige mit Handproblemen sein konnte, für die eine Operation keine Option war. Sie begann, meine Griffe online zum Verkauf anzubieten. So entstand Dunlap Custom Crafts. Wir fertigen unsere Griffe aus verschiedenen Holzarten und in unterschiedlichen Ausführungen. Dank der vielfältigen Werkzeugoptionen stellen wir Dinge her, die anderen beim Selbermachen helfen. Wir sind ein kleiner Zwei-Personen-Betrieb und fertigen alles, was wir verkaufen, in Handarbeit. Alle unsere Griffe werden vor dem Verkauf sorgfältig getestet, um sicherzustellen, dass sie gut in der Hand liegen und sich angenehm anfühlen. Unsere Griffe werden VON Handwerkern FÜR Handwerker hergestellt.

Over a dozen years ago now, my wife noticed that her hands and arms would hurt after crocheting for any amount of time. After some research, and some doctor visits, we realized that surgery was not in our near financial future. So, after some brainstorming, and a handful of prototypes, our handles were born! I started with one handle for her favorite hook size, and went from there. I started making more handles for more of her hooks, and then moved on to other small items that she needed for her various crafts. Seam rippers, stuffing tools, stylus and pencil holders, paint brush handles, latch hook, gem paintings, and anything else she wanted to try.
We realized that she can’t be the only one with hand problems where surgery is not a viable option. She started listing my handles online for sale. Thus, Dunlap Custom Crafts was started. Made from various types of wood, and finished in a variety of styles, with multiple options for tools in our handles, we make things to help others make things. We are a small, 2 person, operation, hand making everything that we sell. All of our handle styles are tried and tested before we offer them for sale, to make sure that they fit, and feel good in your hands. Our handles are made BY crafters, FOR crafters.
