Comencé a crear mis propios diseños cuando no podía encontrar lo que buscaba en las tiendas y en línea. Mis principales inspiraciones son el arte celta y el mundo natural, pero cualquier cosa podría inspirarme para crear un diseño.
Suelo empezar con bocetos en papel normal antes de trasladar la idea al papel cuadriculado. Luego completo el diseño en un software especializado. Para mí es importante ser la primera persona en coser mis diseños. Esto no solo me da el privilegio de tener algo único (¡aunque sea brevemente!), sino que también me permite comprobar que estoy contento con cada parte antes de ponerlo a la venta.
Trabajo desde mi casa en Derbyshire y como mi escritorio está justo al lado de la ventana, no puedo evitar distraerme con los pájaros vivaces afuera y siempre tengo mis binoculares a mano. Hay un árbol de espino en medio del jardín y esto es lo que inspiró el nombre de mi empresa.
Me encanta el proceso de tomar una idea y traducirla en hilos y telas, especialmente cuando se trata de un diseño que tiene sus orígenes hace varios siglos. Muchos de mis diseños celtas están inspirados en obras de arte que tienen más de mil años. Al simplificarlos y elegir una paleta de colores moderna, estos diseños cobran nueva vida.

I began creating my own designs when I couldn't quite find what I was looking for in shops and online. My main inspirations are Celtic art and the natural world but anything could inspire me to create a design.
I usually start with sketches on plain paper before transferring the idea onto squared paper. I then complete the design on specialised software. It is important to me to be the first person to stitch my designs. Not only does this give me the privilege of having something unique (albeit briefly!) but it also allows me to check that I am happy with every part of it before putting it on sale.
I work from home in Derbyshire and as my desk is right by the window, I can't help but be distracted by the lively birds outside and I always keep my binoculars to hand. There is a hawthorn tree in the middle of the garden and this is what inspired my business name.
I love the process of taking an idea and translating it in to threads and fabric, especially when it involves a design which has its origins several centuries ago. Many of my Celtic designs are inspired by artwork which is over a thousand years old. By simplifying them and choosing a modern colour palette these designs are given new life.
