Le mie illustrazioni e la line art sono tutte basate su forme e motivi geometrici. Mi sono imbattuto in questo stile dopo che il mio gatto, Floyd, è morto. Ho finito per comprare un intero caso di pennarelli e blocchi di carta da layout. Da lì, ho sperimentato forme e colori.
A parte Sox il gatto, il mio compagno costante è un gigantesco tavolo da disegno che un amico ingegnere mi ha dato. Usando modelli, righelli e curve francesi, creo disegni e illustrazioni come il mio lavoro quotidiano e lo adoro. Ogni giorno rifletto su quanto sono sollevato di fare qualcosa che mi è sempre piaciuto.
L'inchiostrazione è fatta a mano, con illustrazione e pennarelli a doppia estremità. Una volta completati i pezzi, li scannerizzo e ne imposto il layout, per biglietti di auguri, libri da colorare, ecc... Sono anche responsabile di fare tutta la stampa ora, su diverse stampanti qui in studio.
La maggior parte dell'arte è disegnata a mano vecchia scuola, ma Illustrator è un altro strumento creativo in studio.
My illustrations and line art are all based on geometric shapes and patterns. I stumbled upon this style after my cat, Floyd, died. I ended up buying a whole case of markers and pads of layout paper. From there, I experimented with shapes and colours.
Aside from Sox the cat, my constant companion is a giant drafting table that an engineering friend gave to me. Using templates, rulers, and French curves, I create designs and illustrations as my day job and I love it. Every day I reflect on how relieved I am to be doing something I've always enjoyed.
Inking is done by hand, with illustration and double ended markers. Once the pieces are completed, I scan them and set the layout, for greeting cards, coloring books, etc ... I'm also responsible for doing all the printing now, on several printers here in the studio.
Most of the art is hand drawn old school, but Illustrator is another creative tool in the studio.
