Welcome to Kate Irish Tweed Store!
Kate Irish Tweed Store is a part of Ring of Kerry Crafts - a family run business based in Killorglin, Ring of Kerry - the most beautiful part of Wild Atlantic Way.
All my creations are guaranteed handmade by myself and local crafters(knitwear).
The word “tweed” is an English variant of the Scottish word “Tweel” which refers to a rough unfinished hand woven fabric. The name became associated with the Tweed River which forms part of the boundary between England and Scotland. Nowadays the name became a general term for all carded “homespun” wool whether it was Scotch, Irish, Donegal, Cheviot or Harris Tweed. Our Irish Tweed uses Irish Wool with subdued colour effects (heather mixes) to continue this tradition.

IMPORTANT NOTICE;
All of my wool tweeds are made in Ireland from Irish wool; made to highest quality.
Big variety of fabric patterns has been achieved by my efforts to source them from a few family run woollen mills in Ireland.

About me:
I am self-taught craftswoman and designer, living in Killorglin, County Kerry, Ireland.
I`m registered with Design and Crafts Council of Ireland since 2015.
I'm a proud member of ``Original Kerry`` - network for craft makers based in County Kerry, Ireland. The aim of the organisation is to provide excellence in craft and our members are selected for their skills in craft and design.

Thank you for supporting Irish based, family run craft business.

About KateIrishTweedStore

On Etsy since 2015

Hi;
My name is Kate, I`m married with three children.
I am a self-taught craftswoman and designer, living in Killorglin, County Kerry, Ireland.
My inspiration is the culture of the Celts and the Irish past. I love the amazing , but a little forgotten natural wool fabric -tweed.
I decided to also learn knitting from my talented beloved grandmother. For knitted products I use only non-processed wool ; knitted sweaters and socks have a unique character and properties .
Please support creative mum.
Handmade by me for You to enjoy!
Kate

Care instructions

Brushing,Airing:
For woven garments only: Using a soft garment brush, brush garments lengthwise after wearing to remove surface soil that might become stains later on. Dust and dirt can dull the appearance of wool fabrics.
To remove unpleasant odours, lay garments flat on a bed or towel for an hour. Woven garments may be hung in fresh air on a suitable hanger.
Refreshing, Drying,Ironing:
Wool garments can be refreshed after unpacking or wearing by hanging them in a steamy bathroom. Moisture from the steam will remove wrinkles.
If wool gets wet, dry the garment at room temperature away from direct sunlight or heat.
Always use steam when pressing wool. Set your iron on the wool setting and avoid ironing the fabric when it is totally dry.
