One of my fondest childhood memories is of me and my friends making ‘perfume’ using flower petals, lavender buds and herbs from our gardens. We would add water and dab it on to our wrists and necks, pretending to be just like our mums. Did you do this too? Didn’t the days feel longer and the summers warmer back then?
Fast-forward thirty years and I am lucky enough to be able to still ‘play’ with botanicals to create natural shower and bath products that not only look and smell beautiful, but also have proven benefits for our bodies and minds.
Being a Mum to my wonderful daughter and son, and fulfilling my dream to be a Reception Class teacher, the chances to play and create, imagine and experiment continued. I have always had the urge to be creating something and, it was after a visit to a local spa with my boyfriend that I discovered the advantages of essential oils and especially their uses in the shower.
Something about the ability to nurture my wellbeing whilst taking a shower, which I do daily, really resonated with me and I decided to research aromatherapy showers. This is where I discovered Shower Steamers and instantly ordered some from a large, well known, mass produced retailer. Using these proved that I needed these to stay in my life, but I also felt that they could be more ‘natural’ by using only essential oils and not fragrance oils (this also ensures for a therapeutic experience) and by ensuring that all of the ingredients were pure and high quality.
After initially only making Shower Steamers for myself and my family, I was convinced to begin selling them and it has been an amazing first year for the business! I opened the Etsy store in October 2021, and it is already rated in the top 16% of all Etsy businesses! This was beyond my expectations but it has given me the chance to pursue my lifetime dream of reaching out and helping others to manage their self-care and nurture their wellbeing. Receiving all of the positive feedback in the reviews and getting to know some of my customers has been a dream come true!
By simply taking a shower, something you probably do every day, and breathing in the original blends that rise in the steam, you will be able to experience the aromatherapy benefits and create a spa-like feeling in your own bathroom! Bliss.
Why Shower Steamers? For me, there are two reasons why I don’t regularly bath but instead have a shower every day-
1. I simply don’t have the time to run a bath and sit in it to feel the relaxing benefits. Keeping clean is a necessity and not a treat.
2. I like the idea of a bath so if I ever get the chance to go in, I fill it with bath salts and rose petals, but within five minutes, I’m bored and want to get out!
