Hello!

Welcome to My Nature Nook. I am Leila -a full-time toddler mum, when-I-can-manage-it lover of travel, art and Nature and part-time mumpreneur.

Before creating My Nature Nook, I had never ever run a business before, created a website before or used social media! In fact, the only things I had done before were creating beautiful Nature-based artwork, writing Nature-inspired poetry and designing Nature activity books for myself and then for my daughter. The idea for sharing My Nature Nook came when my daughter was 12 months old.

Having grown up in a family that loved countryside walking, having access to lots of wildlife books and then having studied herbal medicine at university, I assumed everyone knew everything about the great outdoors and loved Nature as much as I did... it turned out they didn’t ...

Every day, I would take my daughter out for walks in the park, showing her all the different leaves, flowers, grass seeds, birds and bugs. I would tell her their names, copy their noises and movement and generally try to enthuse her with excitement about the outside world. It did not take long before I noticed the confused and often disgusted looks of the other parents. They could not understand why I was teaching her these things - they are not relevant, they said.

But some of them were genuinely intrigued. They had never even noticed all the life around them. Despite it being under their noses. They asked questions and wished that they too knew their names.

I had created my first Nature Nook activity book for my daughter. We would take it out on our Nature walks and look everything up. But, I realised, this knowledge needed sharing. So, I envisaged a project I titled My Nature Nook. A place for ALL families to discover the beauties of Nature, discover wildlife, explore our countryside and immerse themselves into the natural world.

I started building my website, creating activity books, designing nature walk carry cards ... Amazing, beautiful, family friendly resources that would allow ALL FAMILIES to enjoy the world of Nature. And so, My Nature Nook arrived!
