Welcome to The Painted Whale! I started my decoupage clamshell business during the pandemic in 2021 and sold my shells mostly from my front porch near Annapolis, Maryland until 2022 when I created a website and now an Etsy shop. My shells can be found in the Nantucket Whaling Museum, the Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum, a few stores on Nantucket, and a few retail locations near Annapolis and Severna Park, Maryland. My four children help me collect the clam and scallop shells from the beaches of Nantucket and I also purchase shells from Maine to make my dishes. A kind neighbor also brings me the round OBX clams you see in my shop from Corolla, NC. Just recently, I have also added some of my photography to my shop. Family and friends often tell me I should sell my photos which I take as the highest compliment! Thank you for visiting! I hope you find something you love for yourself or for a unique gift for someone important in your life. I welcome custom orders, and would be happy to work with you for large volume orders for showers, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs or holiday parties.
