This silk scarf was made using a sunprinting technique. The silk was painted with a special sun-sensitive dye, collected and pressed leaves were upon the silk, then left in the sun. Once dry, the leaves were removed, revealing the shadow patterns. This technique is never predictable, with the images differing on the temperature, humidity, cloud cover and wind.

These leaves on this scarf are from a Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus Altissima) in my backyard.

The scarf is heat treated twice to make sure that the colors stay true and strong.

The scarf is gorgeous! It matched the first photo I saw which made me fall in love with it. A few subsequent photos had different lighting, so I was a bit nervous, but it arrived and the colors are stunning! Love, love, love! Laura is very communicative and helpful, too. So happy!
