The Gwenynen Cardi is knitted in slip stitch honeycomb – and without any purl stitches! The name 'Gwenynen' comes from the Welsh word for 'bumblebee'. The cardigan is knitted in 5 separate pieces, which are sewn together at the end. It has a classic fit with around 10 cm [4 in] positive ease. The pattern is also available in German.

LEVEL: Easy.

SIZES: XS, (S), M, (L) XL for chest size 71-76, (80-86), 91.5-96.5, (101.5–106.5), 111.5-117 cm [28-30 (32-34), 36-48, (40-42), 44-46 in]

GAUGE: 21 stitches/40 rows = 10x10 cm (4x4 in)

YOU'LL NEED:
• 450 (500), 500, (500) 550 g of ‘Snefnug’ from CaMaRose, or a similar yarn (100 g = 220 m)

I haven't started to knit this yet but have had a careful read of the pattern and it seems easy to follow. I'd describe myself as an experienced beginner (I have a few projects not yet finished and a couple completed) and feel I've learned from what I've done so far and my mistakes. The pattern appealed because so few seem to be knitted flat (I have elbow issues and knitting in the round gets heavy and unwieldly as the project grows). I also love the texture as I'm ready to go beyond stocking stitch and this pattern has some interest without purls. The yarn and possible alternatives are quite pricey so I don't want to rush into buying anything and regret by colour choice!
