My name is Maria Zverin. I'm Ukrainian born designer and artist but I live and work in Israel. I finished my bachelor's studies in textile design at Shenkar College. Now I'm a senior lecturer at the same college, I teach textile design, and I'm happy every time I enter the classroom and see my students. They are my instant inspiration.
But teaching is not enough for me. I have a constant desire to create, create, and create…
AliSka is my daughter's name. She and my son Martin are my "best design", and everything I do I do it for them.
I create collections of unconventional knitted garments and accessories, which are not based on the traditional pattern-cutting approach. I developed a method that helped me to create absolutely seamless pieces on the flatbed knitting machine.
These garments and accessories have different geometric forms and unique textures since instead of using traditional knitting techniques, I “paint” and "sculpture"with the help of the machine. Due to the combination of yarns of different qualities and colors the textiles possess variable densities and transparencies, changing the ways in which the wearer can use the garments and move in them, as well as ways in which her body is seen. So, all my garments have exclusive textures and shapes and these unique qualities set me apart from others.
As a designer, I'm 100% involved both in creative and technical process.
Our lifestyle is very dynamic, so our clothes must be comfortable and free. And of course beautiful. My garments are both beautiful and comfortable, you can move free in them, and be sure that you will never go by unnoticed.
