The strength of the material...
Come with me and learn about the delicate weave between a beloved piece of jewelry and the material from which it is made and the different languages that it ‘speaks’. Let us become familiar with beauty and aesthetics that are not bound only by commercial considerations. Different materials that allow beauty and magic to break forth, and express the creativity that is inherent in each of us.
I believe that jewelry is much more than a mere decoration. It is
a primary means of artistic self-expression. It attracts attention, as well as reflecting and alluding to the person who is wearing it. It reflects what they tell the world about themselves, what they like about themselves, where they want to attract the attention of those around them.
In my recent creations I make use of
a traditional Japanese technique that produces a unique texture on the metal, with a hammer that is adapted especially for this purpose. Into the texture I embed pure gold/silver leaves which are made in Japan by a traditional and intricate method, and this texture provides the jewelry with unforgettable ‘presence’.
The earrings, rings and necklaces that I create enable the wearer to declare a design concept that embraces within it a dialog between the materials – which is reflected outwards – and distinguishes the wearer with a statement that is personal and unique only to them and which they, in turn, share with the universe.
In my shop you will find drop earrings or stud earrings, rings, wedding rings, long or short necklaces and bracelets, all of which are created purely by hand, using unique crafting techniques that I studied and in which I have accrued experience over the years in Japan, Italy and Israel.
The range of materials with which I create: Japanese alloy which I melt in a special oven, 925 blackened silver, 18 carat gold and pure gold leaves, purple-colored wood that grows only in the countries of South America; and all the work that goes in to creating the jewelry is made entirely with love, passion and respect for the materials, for the creation, and for those who wear them.
The metals I work with are made from pure silver, pure copper, pure gold; they contain neither nickel nor any other harmful substances.
I will be happy to answer any further questions you may have – please feel free to contact me.

About DinaAbargilJewelry

Sales 31
On Etsy since 2017

Join me in a dialog during which we will create your unique and special piece of jewelry.

My name is Dina and I want to invite you to a dialog, during which I will present my world to you; you will introduce me to your world; and together we will create exciting jewelry.
How will I do that?
First, I am very good at making connections.
From an early age I was fascinated by the connection between different materials which can be shaped into one creation; I used to collect "pieces of junk" from the street and from them I created "different" jewelry for myself and my friends .
When they asked me, as a child, what I want to do when I grow up, I said: “Make jewelry” .
Over the years I developed a talent for providing creative expression to the inner world of my acquaintances and, later, of my clients. I created unique items for them that expressed their very different and diverse personalities. It is a skill that I continue to develop until now, after 15 years of work in jewelry-making and art.
My creative journey led me to other countries. I lived and worked in Japan for nearly two years, I studied gold and silver crafting in a very special school for contemporary jewelry in Florence which is different from most schools and academies of jewelry-making.
During the four years of my studies I got to know and learn from well-known silver- and gold-smiths, from whom I learned, in addition to a great many jewelry-making techniques, how to integrate and merge the different cultures – traditional and contemporary – as well as the noble and industrial materials.
I was never satisfied with conventional materials but I was always examining different substances. I wanted to create a new language where diverse materials connect into a design statement. I learned to "cook" Japanese alloys composed of pure Silver, Copper and Gold. I experimented with a variety of different materials such as Plexiglas, dark African wood, Iron, Aluminum, poured Concrete and Purple Heart wood from South America and, on the other hand, also textiles, Leather, rough gemstones and 18, 22 and 24 karat Gold.
I discovered that when I create a piece of jewelry it helps me to study and learn about the inner world of the person for whom I am creating it, as an integral part of the process.
Each 'custom-made' item I create expresses a personal and individual world that is filled with emotions, needs and passions.
My destiny in life is to enable my clients to wear an artistic object that was created especially for them. I believe in “different beauty”. I believe in aesthetics that are not confined only by commercial considerations. I see the beauty and the magic that also exist in raw materials that are not necessarily perceived as being materials from which jewelry is normally created, I see the beauty in them, just as I find uniqueness and beauty in different people.

Care instructions

Gold: Although water is not harmful to Gold, most of my jewelry is a combination of various materials and therefore it should be treated differently. To protect your jewelry remove it while showering.
Oxidized silver: The blackened appearance of oxidized jewelry will slightly fade, especially items in direct contact with the skin.
You may return the jewelry for re-oxidation free-of-charge (although shipping will be charged).
Japanese alloys: More resistant than oxidized silver but the color might gradually fade. Advisable not to shower while wearing them or to swim in the sea or a chlorinated pool.
Wood: The wood finish is not waterproof. You should not wear wooden jewelry while showering, and avoid contact with perfumes, cosmetics, etc.
