Hand Made from Wood in the Holy Land - Passion for Creation and Beauty

I'm Netanel Bunimovich, I'm 35.
I have always loved to create. I started to work with wood when I was a 7-year-old boy.
I am also a professional musician, playing on at least half a dozen instruments. I believe that my heart and my hands create not only music in sounds, but also music in the wood. From the moment that I see the natural wooden branch, I start hearing its inner melody, I listen to it carefully and transform it into a unique song, a piece of art, to love, wear and connect to the essence of nature and Land of Israel.
My dear wife Miriam-Feyga is my first recipient and critic. She is a visual artist and she catches my creation spirit and contributes her own ideas into the process. Check out her art photos of all the items in our shop, I believe, they truly reflect the inner light of every wooden piece of jewelry and gift I've created.

We live in a unique place. It's a little town in Judean mountains in Israel, called Shiloh. If you open the Book of Judges, you will see that this town historically was the first capital of Israel, centuries before Jerusalem. It's here where the 12 tribes of Israelites gathered together after their Exodus from Egypt, when they came to resettle the Land of Israel according to God's commandment, they made Shiloh their capital, and it was the city of the holy Tabernacle, the shrine that was the predecessor of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Shiloh was the capital of Israel and the home for the Tabernacle for 369 years. As a modern town, Shiloh was resettled in 1977. Now it's a home for over 350 families (about 3600 people), many of the local residents are artisans and creators.

Shiloh stands on the mountain that is called Mount Ephraim, because here was the border between Benjamin's and Ephraim's tribes' allotments. Ancient Shiloh belonged to the land of Benjamin, as it was said in Jacob's prophecy, however, modern Shiloh stands on this mountain that belonged to the sons of Ephraim. That's why I chose this name for my wood scrolling studio and jewelry&gifts boutique.

We feel absolutely special about living here and seeing the ancient city of Shiloh being excavated by the archaeologists and visited by hundreds of tourists every day - only a few miles away from my home. I use to walk by foot a lot and I admire the local nature. There is a variety of trees here: lots of almond trees which look terrific when they bloom in late January, fragrant eucalyptuses, apparently, imported to Israel from Australia about 150 years ago to dry the swamps, they have become the inseparable part of local Israeli flora throughout the country, of course, ageless olives and figs, and some more like arbutus, cedars, cypresses, grape vines, acacias and more. I'm still in the process of getting acquainted with all that thriving variety.

My creative adventure with the local woods started when I picked a beautiful fallen branch of an olive tree and decided to scroll it to reveal its spectacular texture.
Then I decided to create something wearable and started "hunting" after suitable branches. I never harm the trees, I only look for those which fell down after a storm or were cut by the municipalities, e. g., in order to prevent contact with electric lines.
It's been 3 years since my first Holy Land wooden jewelry creation (and even more - since other ones - pictures, puzzles and mezuzas). I started from making pendants, and today we also have earrings, set of necklace+earrings, wooden rings and there will be more (e. g. bracelets).

We decided to open an Etsy shop when our first collection of 35 unique items was ready. And they keep being born! I also like to take a challenge and create a customized item. For example, my wife ordered a she-wolf pendant. She was absolutely stunned with the result and enjoys to boast her unique bijou at art and business events and on festive occasions.

You will also see in our shop other wooden creations of different times: wooden pictures and mezuzas - they feature my own fantasies and designs and wood scrolling techniques that I've developed.

Welcome to Mount Ephraim world!
